Into the book
Grandma was so there.
In a vivid and unique way, unlike my parents who did not leave behind even a single memory.
--- p.32
But as the only two vampires in this world who recognize each other, Young-i's presence has been a comfort to me for a long time.
I believe in the existence of a spirit that is alive somewhere, that neither dies nor is hurt nor despairs.
--- p.65
The weakest and most powerless children at the bottom are being torn apart by the huge system.
Most people don't care about that.
Even if it became public, it only resonated with a very small number of people.
--- p.78
Listening to Woohyun's singing, Jinyoung wished that if he were allowed to go to heaven after his death, this moment would last forever.
Woohyun sang at the top of his lungs.
--- p.80
K watched the puddle he had created grow bigger and bigger without saying a word.
I wished the rain would never stop and my house, the whole world, would be submerged.
Like a giant tank, like a swamp without land.
--- p.115
Apples taste like apples, and cucumbers taste like cucumbers.
They are all different and each one is unique.
--- p.126
Women's liberation is too difficult.
It might be more difficult than the liberation of the Republic of Korea.
I had that thought while hiccuping.
In a vivid and unique way, unlike my parents who did not leave behind even a single memory.

Publisher's Review
“They say it’s women’s liberation, but shouldn’t young women also be liberated a little bit!”
Warm consolation to all the apples in the world
The title piece, "The Private Life of an Apple," depicts the sexual desires of young women, a taboo topic that no one can easily talk about.
The main character, Sa-gwa, loves herself as she is and has the highest self-esteem of anyone else, and is a very wholesome young woman of this era.
Furthermore, they believe that having sexual desires is not something to be ashamed of, but rather something natural, and they do not hesitate to show the process of actively using tools.
It is also rare to see a character in the work express his or her own opinions accurately regarding the natural progression between the apple's boyfriend, Young-hoo, and his lover.
He is also portrayed as a courageous character who does not avoid confrontation with Yeong-hu and faces it with dignity.
The author meticulously addresses the sexual desires of young women and indirectly suggests ways to overcome the various problems and prejudices that may arise.
The emergence of healthy female youth will be a great comfort and encouragement to the youth of this era.
Sometimes parents ask, "Do we really need to know things that we don't necessarily need to know?"
Of course.
You need to know now.
If you can imagine what route you'll take later, it's best if adults tell you 'now,' 'here,' and 'properly.'
I hope there will be more stories about the bodies and desires of young women. - From the author's note
A world expanding from me to you to us
A collection of novels that create a new era
During adolescence, we build our own lives by observing the lives of those we admire or look up to.
This period is important because the goals and direction of your life change depending on who you meet and what choices you make.
In "The Private Life of Apples," characters form various relationships based on their respective goals.
In "Grandma's YouTube Playlist," Hyori becomes emotionally anxious about losing her grandmother, her only family and soulmate, after learning about her grandmother's relationship with her classmate friend, Eugene's grandfather.
However, as he talks to Eugene, he comes to understand and respect his grandmother and is no longer anxious.
The protagonist of "Twilight with Me" suffers from an unknown headache while playing the role of "daughter" at home.
However, after meeting her friend Lee Young, who calls herself a vampire, her headaches disappear and she gains the strength to break free from her patriarchal father and unstable mother and become a complete 'self' rather than just a 'daughter'.
In "There Is No Shell," boy K has nowhere to put his heart, neither at school nor at home.
K puts his friend Woo-sung in an awkward situation because of his desire to belong, but eventually they form a new solidarity.
This collection of short stories reminds us that when we feel alone and like we have no one on our side, there are people who reach out to us.
So, as you build and expand relationships, you become stronger, you become more assertive, and you show that you can stand as an independent being.
“Never again.”
Protecting myself is ultimately protecting society.
In a world where we live together, we frequently witness social accidents and disasters.
There are those who avoid or ignore it because it did not happen to them at the time.
However, there are people who willingly add their small voices in the right direction, even though they cannot predict the damage that will come or even know that they will suffer damage.
This is the case with Sarah, the intern in "Ever Again," which deals with social thinking.
Jinyoung, a mother who applied for a VR center program to meet a precious person who has passed away, witnesses the real truth about the death of her son Woohyun, who went to work as an industrial intern.
Several people, including the broadcasting station PD who was present at the scene, try to cover up the incident, but intern Sera, who was in the same situation as Woo-hyeon, bravely tells the world the truth.
'If you eat ancestral rite food, you have to pay for it.'
Sarah thought, recalling Jinyoung's hair that had turned pure white.
(syncopation)
I hope there will never be another kid like Woohyun again.
I hope that this time people will open their eyes wide and look at it properly.
That's what I learned about online marketing and algorithms. _Page 90
In society, I am a small, hidden being like intern Sarah.
But it shows that small things can change the world.
In reality, accidents involving teenagers occur frequently.
This novel focuses on accidents and incidents that occur in the workplaces of young people, rather than in schools, and teaches us that we must all work to create a safer society.
This story, which is more realistic because it is factual, contains the message that a safe world ultimately begins with protecting myself.
“It was there in such a vivid and unique way!”
Five Novels as Dazzling as Yunseul
Author Jo Woo-ri debuted by winning the Biryongso Blue Fiction Award for “I Don’t Want to Be Twenty Anyway,” and won the Grand Prize of the Four Seasons Literature Award for “Oh, Love.”
Following this, he solidified his position as a young adult novelist by publishing "A Report on 1831 Days of Absurd and Incomprehensible Sorrow," which deals with loss, grief, and healing.
The author's work is captivating in its bold portrayal of the vibrant voices of young people in their own language.
In addition, the author has published short stories in various publications and anthologies.
I have compiled short stories that I have previously published and new short stories into this short story collection, 『The Private Life of an Apple』.
Contains five dazzling reflections from the author on sexual desire, grandparental love, classroom power, self-identity, and social thought.
It bravely and confidently brings to the surface materials that were so familiar that they were forgotten, that were deeply embedded within, and that were perhaps difficult to bring out.
The story the author unfolds is so vivid and unique that it doesn't lose its originality. With his own unique storytelling, he expresses it in a way that is sometimes cheerful, sometimes calm, and sometimes witty, and it creates waves in the calm heart.
The author, who quietly looks into the eyes of the characters in the work and walks alongside them, greets the youth of this era by saying, “The wind, the sunlight, the energy of the entire planet, and the solar system all come together to support you.”
