Description
Book Introduction
This book is a drawing essay by Urban Sketcher.
This book defines drawing as a fundamental characteristic of humanity and names drawing humans 'Homo Skedius'.
The author, as Homo Scedius, sketches and writes about the world.

The first chapter, 'Homo Sedius', depicts the author's travels, including libraries, shooting competitions, broadcast interviews, and lectures.
The second chapter, 'How to Appreciate Urban Sketchers' Paintings,' presents the impressions of touring art galleries and exhibitions as an urban sketcher.
The third chapter, 'Sketching Nomad', presents travel sketches drawn by the author while traveling domestically and internationally as a nomadic painter.
Jeju Island, Naju City, Yeongsan-myeon, Gyeongsangnam-do, Deokjeok Island, Incheon, and Taiwan appear.

The author is not only a sketcher but also a dancer, and in the fourth chapter, "Dancer? Sketcher!", he writes about his own performances and those of others.
The Urban Sketchers chapters usually meet once a month, and the story of the drawings made at the Urban Sketchers Seoul meeting is covered in the fifth chapter, 'It's Fun to Draw Together', which includes Heunginjimun Gate, Gwanghuimun Gate, and the Dilkusha Exhibition.
The last, sixth chapter is about the aesthetics of urban sketching, including the differences between painting and photography and the perspective of field drawings.

The author carries a small sketchbook and drawing tools with him wherever he goes, and when he draws, the ordinary stories around us are magically transformed into extraordinary ones.
This book is a harmony created by the author's drawings and writing that transcend the ordinary and the extraordinary.
A book recommended to those who want to listen to that story.

Into the book
Since then, I have drawn pictures with numerous sketchers.
The reason why I liked Urban Sketch was, of course, because I got to see and draw things directly on site.
Whether the drawing was good or bad, it was always fun.
Even at this time, I didn't practice by looking at the pictures.
If you need to, you can just go and draw it yourself. Why would you practice with a photo?

Beginner sketchers say this:
“Once I practice a little more and gain more skills, I’ll go out there and draw.”
In my experience, this doesn't seem to be necessary.
As Nike says, “Just do it,” I want to say this:

“Just draw it”
--- p.10 From “Humanity that Draws Pictures”

After looking around the exhibition hall, choose one of the displayed works that you would like to purchase.
First, you need to find the painting you like the most, and then choose one that you can buy at a reasonable price.
The thought of buying a painting fills me with a different kind of excitement and tension than when I just casually admire it.
Then, pay the price of the work and tell us the delivery address to receive the work.
(The last sentence is an imaginary scene.)
--- p.30 From "Just draw the picture!"

After finishing the painting, I headed to Gwandeokjeong where the Ipchun ritual was held.
I walked slowly along the coastal road, but the rain was pouring down harder and the wind was blowing so hard that my umbrella was turned inside out.
But I love this sentimental feeling I get when I walk alone on a cloudy and gloomy day.
A song came out of my mouth on its own, and that song was Lee Jang-hee's 'Wanderer in the Rain'.

--- p.62 From "I am a traveler in the rain - Jeju Ipchun sketch trip 1"

When drawing a lot of people moving so quickly, you can just draw them freely from various angles to preserve the sense of presence.
Rather than trying to draw it too precisely or well, it is better to give it a rough outline to give it a sense of realism.
As the groundslides came, the square dance ended and my painting was finished.
Urban sketching in unfamiliar places and among unfamiliar people is always thrilling.
--- p.113 From “Square Dance Painted in Dalian, China”

About 60 paintings from the three events will be selected and exhibited for one year in a special exhibition hall in Dilkusha.
I am quite excited that my paintings will be exhibited at Dilkusha.
An exhibition at a national cultural heritage site! It's not something you can do just because you're good at drawing.
It seems like something fun that anyone can brag about to their grandchildren one day.

--- p.146 From “[Dilkusha] Exhibition to brag about to your grandchildren”

A photograph is made by capturing a very short moment (say, 1/100th of a second) and freezing it.
On the other hand, a painting is created by accumulating and covering the time spent drawing.

A painter looks at a subject for hours or days and draws it. A painting is the result of the painter accumulating the time he spends looking at it.
The reason a painting moves us is because the artist's time has accumulated in it.
--- p.158 From “A painting is an accumulation of time”

Publisher's Review
The author of this book, "I'm Going to Draw Today Too," which was drawn and written in 2023, was selected as a "Literature Sharing Book" in the essay category by the Arts and Culture Committee (ARCO) of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023.
The author has been serializing Urban Sketch articles in [Oh My News] since 2022, and this book is based on those articles.

The author continued to draw and write, and after publishing his first book, he wrote about 50 more articles for [Oh My News]. Using those articles as reference, he collected new articles that could not be included in the articles and published a book.

While "I'm Going to Draw Today Too" was organized chronologically, this book organizes the pictures and text by topic.
In order to write in a friendly manner, I tried to shorten the long and complicated content in the article and make it as simple as possible to suit an age that is not familiar with printed materials.

In this book, you will see unique illustrations, concise writing, and a new perspective on the world.
