Into the book
One day, I walked out into an alleyway holding an old film camera.
The scenery beyond the camera was familiar yet unfamiliar.
These roads and these landscapes are in danger of disappearing
It was quietly waiting for me, holding memories of my childhood.

busan,
A city whose name alone warms the heart.
This alley is not just a place to pass through.
It is filled with the laughter of sunny childhood days,
This is where the image of a boy leaning against a wall on a rainy day remains.

Walking here made me reflect on my life.
And then I realized.
These alleys embraced me back then and made me who I am today.

This book is a record of memories for me,
I hope this is a new discovery for some.
To those who love Busan, and to all the moments this road has held,
I dedicate this book to you with all my heart.
---p.1

My hometown, Jwacheon-dong, which contains everything from my childhood to my school days.
As you walk up the winding alley, one step at a time,
Before I knew it, the house where I lived, my grandmother's house, came into view.
---p.4

“Grandma, I’m here!”
The words I shout every time I open the door and enter the house.
Then, without fail, the grandmother
'Are you eating rice?'
You were worried about my food.

Now, go on a journey to heaven,
The house remains empty,
That house, that alley, and Joachon-dong
It is still a memory and a longing for me.

I go there because I miss you, open the door, and say hello like this.
“Grandma, we’re here.
---p.6

Joachon-dong is a space where past and present coexist, with forgotten alleys and traces of life intertwined.

This place was once a refuge for refugees, and it holds the story of how people relied on each other to survive on this barren land.
At the end of the winding stairs and paths like a maze, someone carefully placed a flower pot made of stones, and in front of some houses, there is an old bicycle.
How about experiencing Busan in a different way by walking through the alleys of Jwacheon-dong?
---p.12

Tall apartment buildings surround the neighborhood,
The sea is now visible only through a small slit.

The wide and cool scenery of the past has disappeared,
The small gap in the sea that remains feels even more precious.
If even that little piece hadn't been there,
This neighborhood probably looks different now.

Although the sea has become smaller, it still contains the story of Joacheon-dong.
Perhaps this is a scene like a piece of memory that we must protect.
---p.20

The aesthetic created by old bricks, faded paint, and moss-covered walls
---p.42

This place has Jwacheon-dong behind and Beomcheon-dong in front.
This place gives the feeling of being somewhere between the past and the present.
It's my favorite place.
---p.52

If you walk with a film camera,
Even ordinary scenery makes you stop in your tracks.
---p.125

But at the end of those memories, there was always a home to return to.
My home, Joachon-dong.
There, my grandmother is waiting for me.

Born and raised in Busan, actor Lee Si-eon invites us into the real alleyways of Busan through his first photo essay collection, "Grandma, We're Here."
This book is not just a photo album or travel guide.
The old alleyways and landscapes of Busan captured on film cameras warmly recall the Busan of our forgotten memories, rather than the Busan of our tourist destinations.

In particular, the neighborhoods of Jwacheon-dong and Yeongdo, where his childhood took place, and the old neighborhoods that are now disappearing due to redevelopment, are vividly revived through this book.
His affectionate gaze in each photo invites readers to stroll through the alleyways together and reminisce.

Lee Si-eon's unique wit and small stories from his childhood will make you laugh and empathize throughout the book.
This book, which explores Busan's hidden charms and contains photos and stories of forgotten alleyways, will provide readers with warm comfort and special emotions.
