Into the book
― When I write about my time in Shanghai online, I use the Shanghai dialect's Nongho instead of the official language, Mandarin, which means "hello" (nihao).
If you read the Chinese characters according to pinyin, it is 'Nonghao', but the reason it is written as 'Nongho' is because I wanted to follow the pronunciation of Shanghai people as much as possible.
If you listen to the actual dialect, you will hear a sound somewhere between Nongho and Nongheo.
That's how Nongho Shanghai began.

--- p.29

― When Shake Shack first landed in Shanghai in early 2019, it used the Nongho sign as a large greeting on the wall and used local attractions in the menu names, which is considered a good example of localization of a global brand.
However, most brands either didn't know about it or didn't consider it that important, so there wasn't any noticeable marketing. Louis Vuitton's arrival and subsequent fresh moves were very interesting and piqued my curiosity.
They were also excellent in their color selection.
It was emerald blue, not red.

--- p.30

― The biggest thing that makes Shanghai's streets beautiful is the trees.
Even in the scorching heat of midsummer, there is nothing more refreshing than stepping under the refreshing shade tunnel created by the street trees.
This is why you can go for a walk even in the hot summer.
The sycamore trees that make up most of the street trees are called utong by the locals.
The history of this ute goes back to the French Concession era.
The French tried to make this new land a good home for themselves, and the first step was to plant plane trees.

--- p.39

―Just as Italian or French restaurants serve dessert to celebrate a birthday, Chinese restaurants present longevity noodles to birthday guests at the end of the meal.

--- p.44

―Hello Bike, operated by Alipay, can be used by tourists by registering a card without separate authentication.
For yellow Meituan, you can also scan with Alipay, but separate authentication may be required.
--- p.50

-Shanghai did not destroy the Bund, which has a painful history.
We refined and refined the existing hardware to make it the heart of the city.
Instead, they changed the content and filled it with content that could raise capital, thereby attracting many people.
Walking along the Bund, you will be overwhelmed by the grandeur, beauty, and stories of the architecture, and your curiosity about the city will be piqued.

--- p.61

-Wanxiang Tiandi is located on Suzhou River, known as Shanghai's "Mother River." It is a place worth visiting due to its geographical advantage of being adjacent to historical sites, the artistry of the building itself, and the experiential events held each season.
Because the main part of the building is underground, the shopping mall building is not visible from the outside, only the sky bridge and interesting sculptures are visible.

--- p.73

-One of the treasures of Shanghai is the traditional Chinese gate, the Palau, made in Tushanwan.
In 1912, dozens of students at an orphanage that taught various Western arts and crafts worked together to create a giant pailou.

--- p.129

-Juguangyu Hotpot, which lets you eat hotpot on a street in old Chongqing, is located near Nanjing East Road and is recommended even for travelers who are short on time.
Both the atmosphere and the taste are excellent, making for an enjoyable dining experience.

--- p.163

-There is a restaurant world's best-selling author who has both style and taste.
Solo, a restaurant in Yongpingli that has been awarded a Michelin star, China's equivalent of the Black Pearl, has opened a second casual dining location in the quiet and secluded Changle Road called Solo Garden.
He has turned a well-maintained Shanghai house called Yangfang, which has a large lawn, into a restaurant where he bakes pizza and serves wine.

--- p.168

-The meaning of the pure Korean word ‘jecheol’, meaning ‘the right time’, gradually deepens.
Even if an uneventful day feels boring, it is truly lovely to feel the seasons, appreciate the weather, and express the beauty of flowers while waiting for who will be in season next season.
Life has its seasons, too.
People are also part of this natural cycle of planting seeds, watering them, germination, growth of stems, growth of leaves, blooming of flowers, bearing fruit, and falling of fruits.
In season.
It's the right time.
