Into the book
I filled the empty time by visiting Kyoto.
That was my only rest.
I sat by the river and poured out my heart.
Watching the sadness flow away from me like a river made me feel lighter.
My only salvation was to leave for Kyoto.
As the number of times I packed increased, two different people began to live inside me.
Me, who endures the uneasy feeling in reality, and me, who only takes a deep breath when I come to Kyoto.
Traveling back then was sad, slow, and painful.
I spent the entire process of letting go, shaking it off, and finally getting back up in Kyoto.
When my legs regained their strength and I could stand firm, I decided to dedicate the rest of my life to making only what would make me happy.
Choosing one me.
The answer was set.

--- From "If I were the only one who could protect myself"

The second course is the Horikawa River walking trail right next to the house.
On days when I woke up early in the morning, I felt better running along the quiet riverside than on the crowded streets.
It was a road with no cars and only the occasional person out walking their dog.
Moreover, this place was full of double cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Every time the wind blew, flowers poured down like rain.
A bicycle clinked as it passed over a small bridge, and children from a nearby kindergarten on an outing made a lot of noise.
To be honest, I couldn't run properly in the morning because I couldn't leave this scenery alone.

--- From "Runner of Spring"

I once saw someone describe the weeping cherry blossoms of Honmanji as young trees that are not even 100 years old.
Come to think of it, there was also an article that said that the giant ginkgo tree I saw once wasn't even a few hundred years old and wasn't even considered a protected tree.
If I think of myself as a young Kyoto traveler, still only ten years old, who is always swayed by trivial variables, this complaint becomes a little more comfortable.
--- From "Honmanji"

After some time, he came back with new news.
They said they would only continue with takeout and street sales.
Street vendor locations can be confirmed via Instagram on the morning of the day.
After many missed opportunities and a long time, the time has finally come for us to meet again.
It took about 15 minutes to walk from the accommodation to where the man was.
I walked briskly down the street and saw a cart on the other side.
The man immediately recognized me as I greeted him, catching my breath.
“The timing is finally right.”
I carefully placed the bag containing two rice balls in my bag.
After walking around all day, I sat down on a bench somewhere and had one as a snack.
It wasn't the warm taste of eating it with miso soup while sitting in the hall, but it wasn't bad to sit in a secluded place about an hour away and take a bite.
A small rice ball is carried out on the owner's cart and then follows someone else's footsteps to a distant place.
Perhaps the second act of Ao Onigiri could be called the journey of rice balls.
Now is the time to pack your bag and head off to wherever you want.

Publisher's Review
As you walk through the beautiful city where the season has come,
My hardened heart is shaking

The city with the most beautiful cherry blossoms and autumn leaves in Japan, a city of timeless beauty and profound emotions, an introverted yet steadfastly fundamental city.
It's Kyoto.
Kyoto, a city of tranquil beauty sculpted over time, captivating scenery, and stories told in every alley.
This book is written by influencer Hyun Bom, who goes by the name 'Bombyeol', and conveys the unique sensibility of Kyoto through photos and stories that capture the four seasons of Kyoto.
On Instagram, Kyoto is famous for its photos of the four seasons, to the point that people call it “Kyoto = Spring Star,” and this is the first Kyoto essay that 110,000 followers have been waiting for for a long time.

Even a simple greeting is fine, as long as it puts your mind at ease.

Everyone will have their own 'city'.
For the writer, Kyoto is the place to be, to the extent that the meanings of 'going to Kyoto' and 'going on a trip' are slightly different.
It was here that I found solace on my most difficult days, and it was also Kyoto's place to enjoy joy and glory.
I was able to let my sadness flow into the Kamo River and, while running near Nijo Castle, peel off the layers of emotional masks I had been wearing, one by one.
Even the most trivial words could help me regain the sense of my shattered daily life.

There was a time when leaving my daily life behind required great courage, but now I am a traveler who freely crosses borders.
This book was created with 10 years of stories and 10 years of faces of Kyoto captured on camera.
The book is divided into four parts: spring, summer, fall, and winter, and at the end of each part, there is special information on how to enjoy Kyoto by theme, such as ‘Spring Runner’, ‘Tonkatsu Lovers Gather’, ‘Sandwich Explorer’, and ‘Colorful Fall Travel’.
This book, filled with the natural colors of Kyoto, will help you discover the joy created by the smallest and most insignificant things.

“This book may not be a friendly guide to Kyoto, but I hope it will become someone’s closest seasonal friend.
“I hope you arrive safely to someone who holds the sunshine of your beloved city in their heart.” _From the prologue
