Tour de Mont Blanc 360
Description
Book Introduction
There are as many as 14 trails, large and small, that can be collectively referred to as 'Alps Trekking'.
Completing each trail can take anywhere from a week to well over two weeks.
If you split this into several branches and connect them, there are countless possible courses, which is 'Alps trekking'.
Among them, the best is definitely the 'Tour Du Mont Blanc (aka TMB)'.
As the name suggests, this route is a circular course that walks around Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps, at its center.
This book was written with the hope of sharing that emotion with Korean mountaineers.
Although this guidebook is limited to the 'Tour de Mont Blanc', one of the many trekking trails in the Alps, it is written with the hope that it will be of some help to those who want to experience the beauty of the Alps firsthand.
I hope that anyone can walk the Tour de Mont Blanc with just this book.

Into the book
The Alps, with Mont Blanc as their roof
Europe is divided and united by the peaks of the Alps, located in the heart of southwestern Europe.
The Alps are the watershed that divides and divides Europe, and also serves as a huge reservoir.
The Alps are the only place where the extreme cold of the polar regions and the sunshine of the Mediterranean Sea come together.
The Alps, with more diverse faces than any other mountain range, boast a unique personality for each peak.
While the Matterhorn is majestic and sharp, Mont Blanc, despite being the highest peak, is spacious like a square.
Mont Blanc in the Alps, where modern mountaineering began.
Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and the roof of Europe, offers breathtaking views.
The Alps, which stretch for approximately 1,200 km across eight countries, are the guardian deity and home of Europe.
When moist air from the Atlantic Ocean to the northwest and the Mediterranean Sea to the south rushes in, the Alps push this air upward, and when it collides with the cold air, clouds form.
The waterways of the Alps are densely scattered throughout the Alps, and the numerous rivers that originate from the Alps become the lifeline of Europe.
Beneath the towering, sharp peaks, the dense forests are home to countless rare flora and fauna, while above the tree line, countless shrubs and wildflowers display their diverse forms, enticing hikers.
The Alps, with Mont Blanc at 4,810 meters above sea level as its main peak, also have a very changeable climate.
The weather changes every moment.
Sometimes it seems to be cut down, sometimes it seems to be built up.
The various shapes of the Alps are created by the ceaseless movement of wind and water.
Over millions of years, harsh cold, avalanches and torrential waters have shaped the peaks and gorges of the Alps.
Among them, Mother Nature's greatest sculptor is the glaciers that have covered the Alps for thousands of years.
The Alps of today are a legacy of glaciers.
The greatest beneficiary of that legacy naturally went to Chamonix-Mont Blanc ('Chamonix' below 1037m), located in the deepest valley of the Mont Blanc mountain range.
Chamonix is the closest village to heaven and home to a hardy people who have cultivated abundance in a barren land.
It is where humanity's challenge to reach the mountain began, and where endless challenges and responses to reach the summit took place.
A place that has captured the hearts, desires, and challenges of conquerors and artists, from the Carthaginian warriors Hannibal and Napoleon, to Goethe and Hermann Hesse, to British rocker Freddie Mercury.
The Alps are at the top of the list of places I want to visit before I die.
Among them, Chamonix, a pure white city like a fairy tale, can be called the flower of the Alps.
Nestled deep in the Alps, the hidden stories of Chamonix are as diverse and mysterious as they are longed for.

Publisher's Review
The Alps, with its highest peak, Mont Blanc, exceeding 4,800 meters in altitude and the average altitude of the entire mountain range exceeding 3,000 meters, are a naturally blessed mountainous region of snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and valleys.
The vast expanse of land that encompasses eight countries, including Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, and Italy, has developed into a dream climbing course for European mountaineers, and today, it is the dream of mountaineers from all over the world.
Even today, the Alps, which still boast their magnificent grandeur as the target of countless challenges and adventures, including Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Eiger North Face, gave the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest peak, to Jacques Balmat and Michel-Cabriel Paccard for the first time on one day, 230 years ago.
It was early August 1786.
It was the moment when the Alps, a place of terror believed to be inhabited by demons, opened from the divine realm to the human realm.
For the next 200 years, the footsteps of Hannibal and his elephants, Napoleon and his men's boots, and countless people who rode horses to trade for a living or for war gathered together to create a path, which eventually developed into a walking path and a hiking trail.
This became the basis of today's Alpine Trail.
The Tour de Mont Blanc, the first developed and still the most sought-after classic Alpine trek, is the most beautiful and majestic.
I can't forget the excitement I felt when I first trekked the Alpine classic, the Tour de Mont Blanc, 10 years ago, following the legends and rumors of the Alps.
As a broadcast producer, I was finally starting to catch my breath from the passion I had for exploring the world's various mountains and remote areas with Korea's leading mountaineers for over 20 years.
At that time, the Mont Blanc Trail with mountaineer Han Wang-yong, who was taking a break after completing the great feat of climbing all 14 peaks of the Himalayas, was an experience I had never experienced before.
At that moment, the Alps completely entered my heart.
I was fortunate to have been blessed by the Alps with indescribable beauty and grandeur, pain so great it was almost unbearable, and a feeling of elation in proportion to the experience. I felt it was fate that the Alps would be a friend I would always keep close to me throughout my life.
So I got close to the Alps.
The Alps, which I visited several times since then, gave me new joy and excitement each time I went.
I wanted to create a guidebook like a fairy tale, with photos, maps, and my own experiences, that would connect you like a rope installed on an uphill slope, and if you hold on to it, you will definitely reach the top of the hill.
I hope that anyone with the will can take this book and enjoy a leisurely walk through the foothills of the Alps without getting lost.
I would be happy if this book could be of some help, even if only in a small way, to those who will bravely take on the challenge of crossing Bukhansan and Jirisan and heading to the unfamiliar and rugged Alps of the European continent.
A task that I thought would be easy ended up taking over three years.
When my memories of my first trek began to fade, I visited the site several times to confirm the course, and when the manuscript was nearing completion, I visited the Alps again for a final confirmation.
By searching and referencing other people's experiences and materials, I tried to compose various information and content on the trail as objectively and three-dimensionally as possible.
And of course, I tried to get rid of my own mistakes through dozens of repeated revisions.
The book contains detailed course maps for trekking.
The difficulty level is divided so that trekkers can choose according to their condition, and the overall course concept and altitude are graphically organized.
I think the distance and hiking time for each section will also be helpful to those looking for the 'Tour de Mont Blanc'.
I wrote it with the hope that it would be a good guide, but when I actually tried to publish it as a book, I found that it had many shortcomings.
Readers' criticism will be necessary.
If this book can be of even a small help to those who love mountains and the Alps, I can dream that it will be a way of repaying all those who have warmly protected and cared for me.
