Travel geography that captures the world
Travel geography that captures the world
Description
Book Introduction
Travel geography to understand myself and the world
Contains geographical observations of twenty-six travel destinations.

Now, travel is no longer just about eating and drinking, but the meaning of travel has changed to include reflecting on one's own life, reflecting on the dark side of humanity, respecting the lives of local people, and learning about diversity.
Moreover, with the advent of the COVID-19 era, people are now unable to travel, and the meaning of travel has changed significantly from what we previously knew, as people are now traveling indirectly through books and videos.

Travel geography is a new subject that was added as a high school career elective subject in the 2015 revised curriculum.
It was published in response to the demand to increase students' interest in geography and to improve the curriculum to focus on student activities, but it was difficult to find a general education book on travel geography on bookstore shelves.
This book clearly demonstrates how travel geography can broaden and deepen the world and connect it through geographical insights.

『Travel Geography that Captures the World』 was published in response to the high demand from students and teachers for teaching materials that would be helpful in learning travel geography.
'Geography Connecting the World (Seyeonji),' which wrote this book, is a learning community of seven geography teachers and one professor from across the country, and has developed and released travel geography image cards, a set of game cards for nine core concepts of integrated social studies, and teaching and learning materials.
By publishing this book, I am receiving positive feedback from my colleagues that it has further broadened the capabilities and possibilities of geography educators.

『Travel Geography that Contains the World』 is divided into five themes: climate, topography, culture, city, and reflection, in line with the purpose of the travel geography curriculum.
For example, when introducing the tomato festival 'La Tomatina' in Buñol, Spain, it is not simply about how the festival originated and how it is held, but also about the negative perspectives on the festival, showing that what is a festival to some can be a waste to others depending on the situation.
It also introduces Curitiba, Brazil, which has built a bus-centered transportation system, and raises the question of how we can live a humane life in a city.
By reading this thought-provoking book, we can connect with the world, reflect on ourselves and the societies we live in, and cultivate the empathy, sense of belonging, social engagement, and geographical imagination necessary for sustainable peace and coexistence.
