Into the book
The joys that travel gave me were countless, but the greatest of them was the liberation from everyday life.
Having become independent and lived alone at a young age, I was always busy.
Because I had to go to school, take classes, do assignments, and take charge of school events, and also work several part-time jobs to make ends meet.
For me, the trip itself was a sweet experience, allowing me to stop everything and go somewhere for a while.
No matter where, with whom, or what I was doing, I could finally be free from the tedious tasks and hectic part-time jobs.
--- From the "Prologue"
Because our hotel was far from the city center, we didn't know much about Nice, and our itinerary was short, we couldn't do much in Nice.
But I spent my days walking along the beach every day, looking at the buildings painted in pink and marveling at how bold the southern city's painting could be, and buying things like popsicles from the large warehouse mart.
Still, it was fun.
Here I realized that travel doesn't always have to be full of things to be enjoyable.
We wasted our time to our heart's content.
I did things that I could have done without being in Nice, but the memories all remained as Nice.
--- From "All the Blue in the World Nice, France"
I like the sea.
It's not just because it's pretty, but more than anything, it gives me time to myself.
Sitting in front of the seemingly endless horizon, blankly gazing at the seawater and sunlight sparkling like shards of glass, listening to the rhythmic sound of the waves, no matter who or where I am, at that moment, I feel as if I have entered the ocean in the movie [Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind], and time for thought seems to stretch out endlessly, like eternity.
Every time I entered that eternal time, I called someone.
No matter how far away we are, we are still together in my mind.
--- From "Tired, Tired, and Drooling Sitges, Spain"
It's the last time I've been there, but it's still sad to leave a city I'm just getting used to.
It's a separate issue from the excitement of heading somewhere new.
The end of a trip to Spain is, of course, with alcohol.
I went out to the sea right in front of the hotel, sat on the steps, and opened a can of beer.
Because the sun sets late, it was still bright at 9 o'clock.
Thanks to this, we were able to watch from sunset until the dark night when the stars twinkle.
I went down an alleyway without any purpose, had a drink at a bar that caught my eye, and ordered from the menu without even reading it properly.
The Spanish nights that never end were perfect.
Our endings were always certain and happy.
Like my friend said, it would have been the same no matter what we chose.
--- From "Sitges, Spain, a place where unfamiliar daily life repeats itself"
What kind of memories will my month-long trip to Europe leave for me?
What does it mean?
The old European buildings I saw for the first time since I was born, and the people here who live with very different thoughts from me.
But wasn't the most valuable thing to me the realization of how great a happiness it is to be able to put aside all regrets or regrets about the past, worries or anxieties about the future, and focus solely on the present before my eyes for a month, and the fact that I was able to be completely happy for the entire past month?

Publisher's Review
You can see it just by turning your head,
Capturing moments of travel you never saw before.
This book does not contain information on famous and glamorous tourist attractions.
But it captures ordinary but warm moments of travel, such as people lying on the grass in the city and chatting with like-minded people, people sitting by the Seine River drinking and dancing, the scenery of the seaside where I walked every day, the scenery of a nice hotel where I could just take a nap under the air conditioning, a bar in a quiet country village, picturesque people I met when I was lost, the time I spent running on a quiet road with a loved one, and the pure white winter landscape.
If you look at the photos taken by Shoottu himself, which evoke his own unique emotions, and the simple, plain writing, you will be completely absorbed in that emotion.
After reading this book, we will find ourselves dreaming of traveling.
I hope this book, which shows that moments that are not special while dreaming of being special are ultimately the key to happiness, will provide a small comfort to those who want to leave today but cannot.
I hope that you will find comfort and a sense of liberation, even if only for a moment, from the stifling daily life.
I hope this becomes a cozy book to read under the covers before falling asleep one night, to enjoy with a cup of coffee on a weekend afternoon, or to comfort you on your hectic commute home from work.
For me, travel is a break from the hamster wheel of daily life.
It was an excuse to get away.
The reason why Shoottu is addicted to traveling is simple.
An escape from everyday life.
The author became independent at a young age and went to school, taking classes, doing assignments, and working several part-time jobs while participating in school events.
Then one day, he dreams of traveling to Europe and takes a leave of absence from school just to save up for the trip.
The author, who had saved enough money to pay a year's rent by working any part-time job he could find, left for London, England.
At first, I wondered if traveling was worth exchanging my hard-earned money for, but those doubts quickly disappeared on my first trip.
The trip was made more perfect by simply finding the courage to visit a local park, lying on the lawn, enjoying delicious bread and drinks, wandering through small alleys, and discovering the everyday life I had in Korea rather than traveling to grand attractions.
Having happily concluded his first European trip, the author has continued to travel to new cities for over four years.
Using the sweet excuse of traveling, I seek out an unfamiliar daily life.
In this way, he leaves his footprints in 21 cities.
The boring daily routine that repeats itself
Traveling to an unfamiliar place is new and makes you happy.
Waking up every morning, eating at a set time, and walking the same distance as yesterday—everyday life flows by without much change, but when traveling, even that routine feels unfamiliar and new.
The charm of Shoottu's travel lies right here.
His journey is not grand.
I'm just looking for an unfamiliar daily life.
In London, a trip to visit all kinds of parks, drink beer, and chat; in Paris, a trip to sit with a glass of wine in view of the Eiffel Tower within three days of arrival; in Reykjavik, a trip to stay in your hotel all day long, reading books and watching movies; and in Sitges, a trip to simply relax and unwind.
I travel so much that I feel like I don't care about wasting time and being lazy.
When we go on a trip, we always fill our notebooks with plans and try to carve out time to see more.
But even if we don't do that, or don't see or learn anything, traveling is still enjoyable enough. The moments we spend in the unfamiliar everyday life are actually the happiest moments for us.
As you read the travelogue of Shoottu, who travels to find leisure, you will feel a sense of leisure creeping into your busy days.
If you're ready, let's go with him.
