Description
Book Introduction
213 hand-drawn drawings and essential tips for your drawing journey!
Serene city scenes vividly recreated in paintings

"Alone, Slowly, Northern Europe" is a drawing travel essay depicting all the landscapes of Northern Europe with Rimoman's lines and colors.
This is not an essay that simply lists emotions.
This book meticulously but easily records the nature, people, culture, and history of the cities of the four Nordic countries of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
Northern Europe is a beautiful place where vast nature and long history coexist, making it a great place to escape the complexities of reality.
Most people think of cold weather when they think of 'Northern Europe', but in midsummer, Northern Europe has a series of clear, cool days that are perfect for traveling.
The midsummer white nights, when the sun doesn't set until late at night and you can see the sunset at dawn, are considered a must-see sight in Northern Europe.

Author Rimo stopped and drew scenes that caught his eye while traveling.
Thanks to the detailed illustrations and friendly explanations, even those who have never been to Northern Europe might feel like they have.
For those who have already traveled to Northern Europe, following in his footsteps will be an opportunity to reminisce.
Rather than just visiting tourist spots, author Rimo takes a leisurely stroll through historic sites, restaurants and cafes frequented by locals, and markets brimming with the scent of people.
As you explore the Nordic cities with these 213 hand-drawn illustrations, you'll feel like you're traveling together.

This book contains travel tips and necessary preparations for a drawing trip that cannot be found in other books, making it helpful for those planning a trip to Northern Europe or a drawing trip.
With its rich illustrations and a sparkling cover reminiscent of the midsummer nights, this is a must-read for anyone planning a trip to Northern Europe, dreaming of a drawing trip, or simply wanting to reminisce about their trip to Northern Europe.

Into the book
When I came out of the store, the rain was getting heavier.
I stood under the large eaves, removing the crisp tags from the clothes I had just bought, and watched the unfamiliar city soaking wet.
While I regretted not bringing an umbrella, I also enjoyed this loose moment, unfilled by anything.
It's so enjoyable to just let time, which I usually spend split up, pass by.
Isn't this a privilege that only travelers have?
--- p.33, from “Art Museum on a Rainy Day”

In the distance, the old town of Helsinki, where I had first left, began to come into view.
A pink sunset was pouring down obliquely beneath the clear sky where the clouds had disappeared.
Although the sea breeze was very cold, I sat on the deck and watched the white cityscape of downtown Helsinki bathed in the sunset.
The enchanting scenery was like the blush blooming on a young girl's cheeks.
I understood the Finnish people.
What was it that they were so desperate to protect throughout their long history of struggle?
The answer to that question was right before my eyes.
--- p.48, from “A Day in Suomenlinna”

As we entered the small tributary, the wind died down and calm returned.
The afternoon sunlight shone like a jewel on the calm waters of Naeroe Fjord, and the cliffs hundreds of meters high, drawing ever closer, slid calmly to the left and right.
The fresh green of the meadows revealed between the forest and the cliffs, and the beauty of the waterfalls fluttering like white threads on the walls were so unreal.
The cruise ship, cruising through the fjord, finally reached Gudvangen, located in the deepest part of the Naeroefjord.
The 50-minute cruise tour, which was truly ecstatic, ended with stepping onto the pier.
Like someone who had just woken up from a happy dream, a deep sense of regret washed over me, and my gaze kept wandering beyond the blue waves.
--- p.211, from "Giant's Valley"

As we enter late August, the sunset times become earlier.
As it passed 9 p.m., the western sky began to glow red.
It was an intense sunset that seemed to swallow up everything around it.
The last rays of the sun that was born today shone brightly here and there on the centuries-old buildings of Bryggen.
I sat on the quiet dock and quietly watched the splendid farewell ceremony that had come to Bergen.
In the meantime, this city has seen countless mornings and evenings.
Today may be just one fragment among countless fragments that have come to this city.
But just being able to stay for a moment in that beautiful moment was enough to make me feel moved.
Bergen in August.
I was there on that beautiful summer night.
--- p.258, from "Floeien Observatory"

The edge of a cliff that everyone who visits here has stood at least once.
It was a time when I was hesitating, afraid of approaching the precarious boundary.
A thick fog began to engulf the surroundings, as if a giant god had breathed out his breath.
The rocks, the fjord, and the silhouettes of the people gradually faded into a milky light in the fog.
Ironically, within my closed field of vision, as if my eyes were closed, other senses gradually awakened.
I began to clearly feel the sound of rain falling drop by drop and the feel of the ground beneath my feet.
As I felt a strong connection between the rock and me, my fear and anxiety strangely subsided.
A small courage arose to take a step towards the cliff.
Finally, as I stood on the edge of the cliff and the void, a mixture of fear and liberation washed over me.

Author Rimo has 10,000 Brunch subscribers and approximately 8,000 Instagram followers. He is a veteran travel writer who has published travel essays such as “Drawing that Stops Time” and “Drawing Jeju” and coloring book “Jeju Travel Drawing Coloring Book.”
We are consistently conducting travel drawing classes in various places, and are very popular for conducting drawing tours to Taiwan and Jeju Island with the travel agency Modutour.

Paintings have a different charm from photographs.
As the number of people learning to draw as a hobby increases, 'drawing classes' are gaining popularity.
There is a lot of demand, especially among office workers.
Drawing is observing an object for a long time and then drawing it with your own interpretation.
For office workers who are losing their sense of subjectivity as they are swept away by reality, the ability to infuse their own individuality into lines and colors will be attractive.
That is why the drawings of artist Rimo, who left a large company to become a 'drawing travel writer', give courage and inspiration to many people.

Author Rimo says that when he looks at his past paintings, not only the scenery of his travels but also the feeling of the moment he was painting comes back to life.
That's the charm of documenting your travels through pictures.
Drawing may take longer than taking a photograph and there may be trial and error, but when I look at the finished work, the atmosphere I felt at the time comes back vividly.
Author Rimo walked and drew to convey the vivid feeling of Northern Europe to readers as much as possible.
It contains all the must-see landscapes and historic sites, including the blue lake visible everywhere, the massive Ateneum Art Museum, the orange sunset at night, the Nobel Museum, where intellect and history breathe, the tranquil and magnificent castle and cathedral, the Vasa ship salvaged after 333 years, and the snowy fields and mountains that unfold before your eyes.

The book is divided into three parts: Chapter 1 Finland, Chapter 2 Sweden, Chapter 3 Norway, and Chapter 4 Denmark.
This is the result of a month of meticulous documentation while traveling through the cities of four Nordic countries.

We tell in-depth travel stories by adding stories of each country's history and culture to what we see and feel.
It also includes tips containing essential information for travelers, making it a great guide for those planning a trip to Northern Europe.

“A birch forest swaying in the cool, clean wind.
The sharp contrast of white clouds and blue sky.
“My first impression of Finland was that it was fresh and transparent.”
