Into the book
The more I travel, the more picky I become about where I travel.
The stage of simply admiring medieval Baroque or Gothic architecture has passed, and the moments when unfamiliar languages sound like pleasant songs and exotic foods delight the palate are all fleeting.
Ultimately, if you don't find a 'special reason to travel to this city', you will end up having a soulless trip where you just glance at the tourist attractions.
Fortunately, I still have a few reasons to continue my journey.
One of them was a rather grandiose plan to explore all the islands of the world.
This plan came to me after visiting the Greek islands of Mykonos and Hydra. I felt at ease, like a fetus in its mother's womb, in the beautiful scenery of the Mediterranean Sea and islands at the end of the world.
Ultimately, the reason I decided to travel to Sicily might have been to find a pleasant sense of isolation.

--- From the "Prologue"

Sicily was the most peaceful island I've ever seen.
There were no threatening vendors pushing their wares like in Paris, and there was no blatant racism like in Vienna.
Compared to Romania, where gypsies roam the streets begging for money from tourists, this place was heaven.
Far from being mafia, there were only good people, to the point where you wondered, 'Are there really any dangerous people?'
Just once, early on in my trip, I was so nervous when a man in a black suit and fedora, like something out of a movie, approached me. He went into the shop next to mine and, in a very friendly voice, ordered me a strawberry gelato.
After that, I couldn't find anything that gave me a sense of the mafia.
--- From "'Mafia Island?'"

It wasn't long before I realized why Erice was called the 'City in the Sky'.
I was on my way to Castello di Venere, which is at the very top of Erice.
Inside the village, there were rough roads made of small cobblestones that stretched out like a spider's web.
Either path would have been fine.
After walking a little further, we reached the end of the earth, and at the end was a bright blue sky.
So it really felt like I was on an island floating in the air.
White clouds were before my eyes, and beneath my feet were green fields spread out like a carpet, with houses clustered together like toys.

Publisher's Review
Take a leisurely stroll through Sicily, immersed in the Mediterranean's blue and tranquility...

There were many small, beautiful towns perched on the mountaintops, such as Castelmola and Erice, and there was even a tour that took you up the still-active volcano Etna.
There are different seas around the island of Sicily, such as the Ionian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Tyrrhenian Sea, so you can see the colorful sea from any city.
It was truly a fantastic island where you could fully enjoy all kinds of flavors, styles, history, culture, and nature.
… Following the essay of the author who slowly traveled through Sicily, a mystical island in Italy, the landscape embracing the Mediterranean unfolds before your eyes.

A completely solo trip to Sicily, a scene straight out of a movie.

Sicily, the Italian island that served as the backdrop for Cinema Paradiso! Why not take a moment to relax your soul in Sicily, also known as the Land of Paradise?
As I follow the author's travelogue, I sometimes feel as if I am standing somewhere on the island of Sicily.
