Into the book
There is no good or evil in fortune telling.
The premise of fortune telling is utility.
You have to be able to use things for their intended purpose.
It should not be classified into good and evil.
In fortune telling, ‘subjective’ is one of the words that is absolutely unacceptable.
If we get caught up in emotions or feelings, we run the risk of losing objectivity.
That shouldn't happen.
As humans, we can be subjective when dealing with horoscopes.
For example, think about a case where, based on personal experience alone, you try to get a divorce just by looking at your 'superior'.
They make judgments based on their own standards.
That won't do.
Everyone has their own purpose.
It is our responsibility to understand its purpose.
The great use of uselessness, the usefulness of uselessness.
There is nothing that cannot be used.

--- p.49∼50

It is as if when a calamity comes as luck, it is called 'moving luck' or it is said that you can lose money.
You should be able to tell that the changes in your emotions are due to changes in your luck.
We need to anticipate the consequences of emotional changes and use them in counseling, and move beyond counseling that attempts to accommodate them.
It's not about matching the moving luck that's important.
I think you should let me know that you are in that emotional state right now.
We need to tell you that the feeling of superiority was created by the luck called 'fear'.
You can control your emotions with reason.
But if you find it difficult to control these emotions, I think counseling is about explaining that you can move on.
What would you do if you were to move?
One's own nature is confused by luck and by people.
People are those who cannot pursue independence and self-reliance, but rather follow fate and people.
I think counseling is talking about the 'person' you are, the 'chaos' you have, and the 'emotions' you have.
--- p.66

The Department of Epidemiology was first established at Kongju National University.
Perhaps because of that name, a doctoral program was not offered.
So, the name of the department was changed to the Department of Oriental Studies.
Around 2003, there was discussion about opening a department.
And then I designed the curriculum.
Since it is a department of I Ching, the curriculum is designed only with subjects related to I Ching.
Then, there were many professors who opposed that department.
Why would a national university create a department on superstitions?
So, in the early days, we barely managed to make it by including a lot of English and other liberal arts subjects.
(95) Of course, it is a choice whether to study fortune telling and make a career out of it or not.
I have something to say to those of you who are considering this as a career.
If you choose a profession, there is the path of the prophet and the path of the counselor.
The prophet would speak with brutal honesty.
If you want to leave a name after death, follow the path of a prophet.
You become very famous after you die.
I hope you will pursue the path of a counselor.

--- p.99

Prediction and prophecy are different things.
Prophecy is just talk without any beginning or end.
Because the Four Pillars of Destiny is based on data, it is a prediction, not a prophecy.
Then I think the process by which this data was extracted should be justified.
Then, I once again took a closer look at the worldview and dynamic structure of fortune telling.
It is actually a stretch to say that both are Qi and Qi is Qi.
But I believe there is a tremendous correlation between these two.

--- p.115

We keep trying to create formulas like addition and subtraction with literal codes.
I'm trying to create a formula like 1+1=2.
Let's think about a water drop.
A big drop is 1, a small drop is 1.
When you create a formula like 1+1=2, it creates a meaning that is different from reality.
It is necessary to consider distortion during the encoding process.
Knowing this allows us to interpret natural phenomena differently even when we look at a single code, that is, a single letter.

--- p.143

It would be somewhere between charm and magic.
Once you start studying this, many people find themselves unable to put it down.
If you think about why that is, it seems to be because you are going through a process of getting to know yourself.
Knowing yourself doesn't mean becoming a good person or anything like that.
It's about understanding how I'm on the path to my destiny.
And being able to understand the feelings of the people around you is a huge advantage.
I think the more I study, the more I become aware of such things, which is a fascinating thing.
I think that's why I can't give up studying.
It may seem trivial, but it is a realization.
It must be self-realization.
Small self-realizations can bring about self-satisfaction.
I think that studying is also very attractive because when you see enlightenment, the joy in each moment is great.

--- p.189

In theory, this should be good, but sometimes it isn't.
There were many instances where I found myself in a considerable dilemma during actual counseling sessions.
First of all, there are many cases where it is difficult to say whether this situation is lucky or unlucky.
When I first started studying fortune telling, I focused on the Eokbu and Shinkang Shinyak.
But then again, there are so many fortunes that don't work out.
One day, Mr. Jesan said to me, 'You idiot.'
He said not to judge the four pillars of destiny based on one theory or one dragon god.
He said that length is measured with a ruler, but weight is measured with a scale.
It's such an easy thing to say, but I was dumbfounded.
He reminded me that even in the four pillars of destiny, we need to look at things from different perspectives depending on what we are judging.
So, when looking at social activities, such as work, business, career path, aptitude, and academic advancement, the Gyeokguk Yongsin is considered central.
When looking at the domestic aspect, focus on the Yongsin of the Eokbu, and when looking at health or compatibility, focus on the Johu.
I don't think we should be bound by the saying that there is only one dragon god and that we must find it within our fortune.
I started talking about the distinction between social, personal, and health aspects of Yongsin at the HiTel Dynamics Club training session in the 90s.

--- p.217

The strengths are very strong and the weaknesses are weak, but fools only see the weaknesses.
Some people spend their whole lives obsessing over that little flaw and spending time on it.
I don't see this.
I am a person who thinks that it is much more economical to develop strengths.
So the philosophy I adhere to in counseling is to become a 'strength finder'.
What should this person living in the post-heavenly world write and how should he live?
I'm not saying to make up for your shortcomings.
I'll tell you what this person should do to make better use of his strengths.
We also talk a lot about laughter.
The most common advice is to draw a mental picture on a piece of paper every morning.

--- p.247∼248

Ultimately, fortune telling is about seeing what standards and values a person lives by.
It is also about seeing what deficiencies they have and how they fill those deficiencies.
Fortune-telling is something that can tell you how to create your own life.
I also think that fortune telling can give you confidence that you are on the right track.
Something that makes you confident about the life you are living.
I can tell you that I am not wrong, that I have not lived wrongly, that I had no choice but to live that way.
And I think that fortune telling is what gives you the confidence that the decisions you've made and the path you've taken in life so far have not been in vain or wrong.
I think that's the role of fortune telling.
I am.

Publisher's Review
Who are the nine masters?

In the world of fortune telling, the saying 'North Changgwang, South Cheonghwa' is very famous.
Mr. Kim Seong-tae of Changgwang has been on the path to understanding humanity by providing fortune telling consultations in the same place for 34 years.
Mr. Park Cheong-hwa of Busan is a renowned fortune teller who has counseled 170,000 people over 40 years.
The main characters of this interview include Ryu Rae-woong, a scholar who has been studying, learning, and practicing the Way for 50 years; Min Yeong-hyeon, a pillar of the academic field who translated the original text of Sammyeong Tonghoe; Jinpyeong Song Jae-ho, who advocated the Four Elements instead of the Five Elements; Baekmin Yangjong, who dedicated his life to teaching fortune telling; Du-gang Lee Eul-ro, a master of Gimun Dun-gap; Kim Byeong-u, a Cheon-in-ji who is called a mentor at Konkuk University; and Seon-un Hwang Seong-su, a master of personalized counseling with sharp wits.
It may not solve my worries like a doctor, but there is a reason for everything in the four pillars of destiny.

Sajoo Myeongri is a tool to find a person's usefulness.

If you are curious about why you were born, you need to interpret your destiny using the Four Pillars of Destiny.
The unanimous answer of the masters is that if you use the Four Pillars of Destiny as a tool to find your duty and purpose in this world, you can live your life with more confidence and true to yourself.
Teacher Du Kang Lee says that counseling is about discovering strengths.
Strengths are very strong and weaknesses are weak, but foolish people spend their whole lives fixating on small weaknesses and wasting time on them, so I established 'discovering strengths' as the basic principle of counseling.
Seonun Hwang Seong-su focuses on quenching thirst rather than good or bad fortune.
Determining good and bad fortune assumes that everyone should react in the same way to the same situation. However, modern people's lives are not like that; everyone reacts differently, so counseling is ultimately about seeing what standards and values a person lives by.
The argument that there is a need for resolution due to attraction is persuasive.

Why do different people interpret things differently?

The four pillars of destiny are largely divided into three categories: heaven and earth.
There is the energy of the sky that sees what coordinates a point is placed at, the energy of the earth that sees where a person was born, and the energy of the human that sees what the person standing in the middle is doing.
An individual's fate is a mixture of heaven, earth, and man-made circumstances, and even if they are born as twins, their fates will deviate from the yin and yang, so their lives are bound to be different.
Additionally, there are various tools that fortune tellers can utilize in consultations, such as Saju Myeongri, Yukhyo, Gimun, and Shinsal.
Since it can vary depending on the theory being grafted, different counselors may come up with different interpretations.
The key is to discover the beauty of a human being within nature and its cycles.
It will be a valuable opportunity to hear voices from the masters that comfort you and support your happiness.
