Dreaming of a world where the strong do not oppress the weak
An Jung-geun fought for national independence and peace in the East during a time when the Korean Empire was losing its rights one by one due to Japanese invasion.
On the morning of October 26, 1909, he assassinated Ito Hirobumi, the mastermind behind the invasion of Asia and the Governor-General of Korea, at Harbin Station in Manchuria.
Even after being arrested, Ahn Jung-geun, who did not bow his head in court, revealed in detail the crimes of Ito Hirobumi, who had destroyed peace in the East, and said that he had participated in the war as a lieutenant general of the Korean volunteer army and had justly executed the aggressor Ito Hirobumi.
Why was Ahn Jung-geun able to establish an ideology that transcended the limitations of his time?
An Jung-geun, who had formed an alliance and gathered ideas with his comrades, aimed his gun at Ito for the sake of peace in the East and independence for his country.
This incident made him a hero and gave great strength to the independence movement.
However, the more we emphasize his heroism, the more it becomes an obstacle to approaching the person of Ahn Jung-geun.
Fortunately, after assassinating Ito Hirobumi, Ahn Jung-geun left behind the “History of Ahn Eung-chil” in Lushun Prison.
Thanks to the records that he wrote in detail about his life, we are able to shed light not only on An Jung-gun's heroic deeds but also on his life in a comprehensive and three-dimensional way.
"An Jung-geun's Autobiography" depicts An Jung-geun's childhood, growth, the whole story of the Ito assassination incident, and the trial process.
Additionally, this book includes [Oriental Peace], written by Ahn Jung-geun while dreaming of peace in the East, along with [History of Ahn Eung-chil], allowing readers to approach Ahn Jung-geun's thoughts from various perspectives.
