This book is not one that puts Sima Yi in the title but has almost no content about him. It is a book in which Sima Yi is the 'main character'.
This means that it is not a book that talks about the stories of Zhuge Liang or Cao Cao instead of Sima Yi.
Of course, these are characters who cannot be left out of Sima Yi's life, and they often appear as important supporting characters, but the main character of this book is undoubtedly Sima Yi.
Sima Yi is as controversial a figure as Cao Cao.
However, the author does not unconditionally defend Sima Yi.
While he acknowledges that he committed excessive slaughter when dealing with Gongsun Yeon, Jo Sang, and Wangneung, leaving a stain on history, he also expresses regret that he was not able to use his outstanding abilities for the benefit of the times beyond protecting his own life and family.
However, the author focused more on the circumstances and situation that forced Sima Yi to make such a decision than on the outward results.
