Clinical practice guidelines
Description
Book Introduction
The 6th edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines was published in 2024, the 20th anniversary of the first edition published in 2004.
The "Clinical Practice Guidelines" are a product of the unique knowledge of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine, and have received the trust and support of numerous residents, clinicians, and medical students over the past 20 years.
It went through five revisions before the publication of the 6th edition, and experts from each field gathered to make revisions and supplements to adapt to changing circumstances each year.
In the case of the previous 5th edition, the first e-book of the medical school manual was published simultaneously, thereby overcoming the previous inconvenience of having to wait a certain period of time after the publication of the paper book before the e-book was published.
This 6th edition focuses on making up for the shortcomings of the previous 5 editions and making it easy to apply in clinical settings.
To this end, representative 'case studies' have been added to each chapter to provide practical assistance to medical staff when treating patients in clinical settings.
The 『Clinical Practice Guidelines』, which have been revised with consideration for any inconveniences or shortcomings from the reader's perspective rather than following the existing format in each edition, are confident that this 6th edition will meet the expectations of readers.

Into the book
This revised 6th edition comes five years after the first edition in 2004, the 4th edition in 2014, and the 5th edition in 2019.
The revised edition was published after 120 writers worked on it for 1 year and 2 months.
I believe this is the result of the dedication and competitiveness of the Department of Internal Medicine at Catholic University College of Medicine.
Publishing this revised edition was not an easy decision.
In today's world, where information is overflowing online, publishing a printed guidebook can be a daunting task.
However, many people need proper clinical guidelines, and we decided to publish them at this opportunity because we believe that if we do not organize the rapidly changing field of internal medicine in a timely manner, it will become a huge burden in the future.
This revised edition focuses on making it applicable to clinical settings and provides practical assistance in patient treatment through representative case studies.
We also organized the key points and paid careful attention to the font and printing paper selection.
We hope that this clinical guideline will help not only internal medicine residents but also students, private practitioners, and practicing physicians understand internal medicine.
