I almost missed out on the integrated early childhood education program, but I'm glad I did!
Description
Book Introduction
"We Almost Missed Out on Integrated Early Childhood Education, But We're Glad We Did!" is the story of teachers who, after experiencing many things with children at the nation's first fully integrated kindergarten, concluded that "integration is the answer."
This book is about the thoughts of teachers who have worked as early childhood teachers and special education teachers for a short or long period of time and who have felt the importance of early childhood education and special education more than anyone else, on the following topics: 'How can we make learning fun while making play, which is the very essence of children's lives?' and 'How can our children, who spend all day with children with special needs, be able to integrate with each other and enjoy this time, which is like the most precious and valuable gift in their lives?'

Publisher's Review
Chapter 1 (Entering the Seven-Colored Secret Room) contains the ever-changing hearts of teachers with different experiences who attempted integrated education within a play-centered curriculum centered on children, experiencing fears and difficulties every day and every moment, but ultimately finding joy and reward.
In the midst of everyday play and attempts at integration, I opened my hearts to the seven different yet similar teachers, each with their own unique characteristics. By opening up our hearts that have been timid and cautious, wondering, "Am I the only one feeling this way?", I believed that our concerns could be a source of strength to others.

In Chapter 1, I wanted to be an encouragement to those who teach early childhood education and all those who try to implement inclusive education.
'Yeah, it wasn't any different.
These people did it too…’ I thought.

Chapter 2 (Entering the Dreaming Room of Dorandoran) is a story about play.
'Ages 3-5, everything I really needed to know I learned in kindergarten.' (Robert Fulghum) That's right.
It's a story about learning everything about the world while playing.
The curious eyes and five senses that seek to know the beginning and end of all nature and objects in the world will enrich the lives of our children in the future.
All the stories are contained therein.
The story of the teacher who started playing and supported the children as they played, and the efforts made to empathize and communicate with children with special needs and general education children were carefully recorded one by one.
Everything you need to know about teachers supporting young children in kindergarten settings! From play-centered curricula to teacher support, character development, understanding and empathy for disabilities, co-teaching, and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

In Chapter 2, I wanted to provide practical help to all early childhood teachers who practice play-centered education in early childhood education settings, early childhood teachers who practice inclusive education together with special education teachers, and teachers in special classes (schools).
'Aha, okay.
The realization that 'this is how it can be done, there are many different ways'!

Chapter 3 (Entering the Room of Chatter) is a collection of children's words, which are full of 'quotations' every day, and their 'expressions' that you want to capture on 'camera'.
The hearts of children who are considerate when looking at children with special needs, the daily lives of children without prejudice or preconceptions… .
It contains the 'warm affection' of children that warms up life on a hard day.

In Chapter 3, I wanted to explain why we need to experience integrated education in early childhood, and to help adults who may be feeling rigid melt away their fears.
A small cry for 'starting now, here, right now'.

Chapter 4 (Entering a Room of Curiosity) contains curious stories.
We operated a Daegu Metropolitan City research school at the request of the Ministry of Education with the theme of ‘Practical research on the operation of a play-centered fully integrated curriculum through collaborative teaching between special education teachers and general education teachers.’
I looked for related books and examples, but they were mostly theory-oriented, and it was difficult to find materials that helped us understand the areas we were concerned about in practice.
We wrote about our daily lives, which were filled with questions and things we were curious about, by pressing down on each letter, realizing that our experiences may not be the right answer, but rather the '?'

In Chapter 4, I wanted to be a faint light on a dark night road. No matter how pitch-black the darkness, if there's even a faint light, whether it's firelight or moonlight, I believe I can cut through the darkness and ultimately reach my destination. Yes, a milestone.
And still we are in progress… .
We don't know more than we do.
It contains our current state of mind as we walk down various paths, sometimes step by step, sometimes slowly.
We don't know how long we will continue down this path, what it will look like, or how far we will go after going around and around, but we are still 'together,' so we want to confess our hearts that are not afraid, even though it is a work in progress.

TIP
Do you need to understand integrated education terminology?
Then, I suggest you read Chapter 4 (Entering the Room of Curiosity) first.
I recommend it.
