An Analysis of 70 Masterpieces of Western Architecture That Shaped History
Architecture is the key to reading history and culture!
From the pyramid complex of Khufu to the Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, we carefully select and thoroughly dissect 70 masterpieces representing 4,000 years of Western architectural history.
This book is part of the 'Anatomy Guide' series, which selects masterpieces of Western architecture from ancient to modern times and explains the overall and detailed characteristics of each work through illustrations and text.
A total of 70 masterpieces were carefully selected.
For each architectural masterpiece, we have taken great care to use appropriate terminology, provide accurate illustrations, and ensure a layout that allows you to see the pictures as you read.
This is something I always keep in mind when writing books on the arts, including architecture, but I tried to explain it while trying to visualize as much as possible the relationship between various factors such as materials, techniques, forms, the intentions of the artist and architect, and the spirit of the times, and the final appearance of the entire work and its details.
Additionally, each work was explained one by one as if dissecting it, with the whole on the left page and the details on the right page.
