CLO 3D Digital Fashion Design
CLO 3D Digital Fashion Design
Description
Book Introduction
In the fashion industry, 3D virtual fitting technology expands the scope of product development by enabling quick design confirmation and easy modification through cutting and sewing, and virtual model fitting, simultaneously with garment pattern creation. It also enables the construction of a rational system by reducing work processes and reducing costs.
3D virtual fitting technology is being actively adopted, particularly in the global fashion industry, where standardized production management systems are required in multinational apparel production environments. Virtual clothing data is developed using the same principles as actual clothing production, replacing physical samples based on accurate product reproduction.
As 3D virtual fitting technology has gained attention in the development and distribution of clothing products, related classes have become more active in university education, focusing on program practice.

This book was written based on the need for research and development of various teaching materials for efficient basic education of 3D virtual clothing programs. CLO 7.3, developed by Clover Virtual Fashion Co., Ltd., is a 3D virtual clothing program that is currently widely used in university curricula.
This textbook aims to present various utilization methods so that fashion items can be developed according to the differentiating approach level during the process of using the program, and in particular, it aims to help fashion design students develop intuitive designs and design easy patterns.
Therefore, in addition to the method of utilizing DXF pattern files, we have also provided guidance on design modification and development methods using Garment and Blocks files already stored in the program, as well as on how to draft patterns directly within the program.

This textbook consists of a total of 6 chapters, and the first part of Chapter 01 provides a brief explanation of the CLO 7.3 software configuration, along with a summary of the basic functions and usage methods of each tool by type.
Each subsequent chapter describes two or three practical tasks, each with a different application.
Chapter 02 contains information on how to use Garment files saved in the program, and Chapter 03 summarizes the 2D pattern drafting method.
Chapter 04 explains how to use DXF pattern files, and Chapter 05 explains how to use Blocks files.
Finally, Chapter 06 introduces the main functions used in visualizing completed 3D costumes: colorway, coordination, rendering, and animation.
In the main text, the software configuration and tool functions are explained in relatively detail in Chapter 01, but the practical content in Chapters 02 to 06 is briefly summarized in text descriptions of the work process so that you can quickly see and follow along with the images.
The items for the training were intentionally designed for the purpose of training in program utilization, and even if the work content has similar effects, different tools were applied to ensure that a sufficient variety of functions could be acquired.

We hope that this book will be useful to many learners of 3D virtual reality programming, and that it will also contribute to the development of various educational research related to this topic.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at Parkyoungsa Co., Ltd. who actively assisted in the publication of this book, as well as to Professor Wonjuyoung and Professor Juyoung Lee, who provided advice on the planning and composition of the book, and to everyone around me.
