Unlock Story
Description
Book Introduction
Beyond fear, into excitement!
A record of the growth of a person who 'unlocked' himself at every moment of pause.

Author Eunha Park has chosen to open unfamiliar doors at every crossroads in her life.
During my college years, when overseas travel wasn't easy, I learned the thrill of overcoming fear through a courageous backpacking trip. As a working adult, I expanded my horizons within and outside of my organization, experiencing a new world.

The author always asks himself a question when faced with the numerous doors that appear in his life, and when he closes them out of fear, familiarity, or hesitance without realizing it.

“If I open this door, what kind of me will be waiting for me beyond?”

"Unlock Story" is an answer to that question, and a record of learning to trust in one's own potential.

The moment you open the door in front of you, a new world opens up.

In this book, moments at crossroads in life are represented by the symbol of a 'door'.
First attempts, unexpected setbacks, moments of getting back up, and new connections and learnings.
The author says that a door that is not knocked on will never open.
It's okay if you're not fully prepared.
The small act of reaching out and grabbing the doorknob is the beginning of courage, and the possibility has already begun.

The language of this book is more about attitude than resolution.
Instead of grandiose goals, energize yourself with small actions in your daily routine.
A glass of lemon water in the morning, stretching to wake up the body, and a record to organize the day.
He calls this small momentum that converts energy into power.

"Unlock Stories" is a book for those who find themselves at the doorstep again at any stage in life.

It quietly reminds me that when I open a door, there is always a new possibility waiting, and that the key to opening that door ultimately lies within me.
So, this book is a record of warm encouragement for those who believe in their own light and take a step forward.

Into the book
There are countless doors spread out before us.
However, we are faced with the reality that there are fewer people than we think who have the courage to open that door.
It was heartbreaking to see people hesitating, wanting to open the door but not knowing how to do so.
So I drew several doors on the drawing paper.
I wanted to express the countless moments of choice that constantly unfold in our lives.
To move on to the next step, I must ultimately open the very door that is right in front of me now.
I wanted to convey to those who encountered my paintings the courage to hold onto the doorknob and move forward confidently.
To open a door is to step beyond the realm of mere thought into the realm of direct experience.
It's a continuous journey of bumping into things, going through trial and error, and gaining new insights along the way.
That's why I titled this piece 'Unlock'.

--- p.11 From the "Prologue"

Some doors are closed out of fear, some out of familiarity, and some without even realizing they are locked.
Although I was filled with fear of the unknown and anxiety about the future, I eventually opened the door and crossed over into another world, becoming who I am today.

What was my golden key to unlocking it? Looking back, I realized the golden key was mine.
The golden key was none other than the very existence of ‘me’.
The one and only golden key in the world.
We each stand in front of different doors.
But there is only one way to open that door.
It's me.
Only when I can open that door can I truly take responsibility for my life.
I can become the master of my own life and live the life I want.

--- p.14 From the "Prologue"

This book is a story about encountering life through my own unique experiences.
As a coach, I hope that the path I've taken will provide meaningful inspiration to each of you in your own unique circumstances and identities.
We are all sparkling beings.
Let me ignite my own light.
I hope that those who read this book will take charge of their own lives and become the best in their own lives.

--- p.19 From the "Prologue"

Looking back, all the worthwhile choices I've made in life have stemmed from challenging myself beyond my comfort zone.
Those decisive moments when I chose a challenge over the safe path often became turning points in my life.
The reason these three steps of determination, courage, and challenge were possible was because the anticipation of possibilities was greater than the fear of the unfamiliar world.
The moment I took my first step, I developed a "growth mindset" that believed the unknown path was an adventure filled with curiosity, and that even failure was a valuable asset.

--- p.38 From “A door that does not knock never opens”

Perhaps the precious relationship was a stroke of luck brought about by challenges.
I think my fearless attitude and willingness to challenge myself to open doors that were firmly closed brought me good luck.
I wasn't sure which door to open, but it was important to just open it with trembling hands and a trembling heart.
When I opened the door with courage, good people appeared as if they had been waiting for me, and I was able to ride the wave of time and circumstances.

--- p.42 From “A Door That Doesn’t Knock Never Opens”

President Roh Moo-hyun always asked for our opinions and made it easy for us to express our thoughts. We've already experienced the psychological safety of the organization, which shows how insightful the president is as a leader.
There was genuine trust, respect, and warm consideration for people, and that was the driving force that motivated the members to act voluntarily.

--- pp.60-61 From "The Blue House, Learning the Standards of Good Leadership"

The moment I started my presentation, showing pictures and using PPT materials, my hand moving the mouse suddenly started shaking uncontrollably.
Even my voice was shaking, and I had a strange feeling that my own words were coming from far away.
Rather, I saw that the people around me looked more embarrassed than I was.
The presentation ended without me even realizing how that embarrassing and confusing time had passed.
I was very shocked that day.
It was a memory I wanted to forget, and a situation that could have easily become a trauma, but I still had the will to overcome that painful time rather than avoid it.
Fortunately, good fortune saved me.

--- pp.121-122 From "I have stage fright?!"

Every morning, as soon as I open my eyes, I sweep my entire body with my hands to wake up my sleeping body.
It's time to recharge your energy for the day by stroking your arms, legs, and torso with both hands for 5 to 10 minutes a day.
And I start my morning with a glass of lemon water.
It is a small ritual to balance the acidic body with alkaline.
These small, insignificant daily practices accumulate to create momentum.
One small action leads to the next action, which in turn becomes the energy for the next action.
Just as a snowball grows bigger as it rolls, the power of small actions grows stronger over time.
--- p.244 From “A Glass of Lemon Water and the Power of Small Consciousness”

Publisher's Review
The courage to open the locked door, the key was finally mine!
Between fear and familiarity, a record of "Unlock" for those seeking to live authentically.

We all stand at a crossroads in life.
That door could be the door to a new beginning, or the door to an unfamiliar challenge.
But there are times when you hesitate for a long time without being able to hold the handle.
"Unlock Story" is a story about the courage and insight of one person who overcame that hesitation and opened the door.

After 17 years of public service, the author chose a new path in his 40s.
When I started to listen to my inner voice and let go of my comfort zone, the first thing I encountered was fear.
But looking back, he chose the excitement of the unknown over that fear when he decided to go backpacking during his college years.
The moment I reached out and turned the doorknob, a new possibility always began.

There are countless doors open before everyone.
But not many people have the courage to open the door.
Opening a door is not just about changing the path, it is about opening up possibilities that were previously closed to me.
This book is a story about the journey of countless 'unlocks'.

Real change begins with self-awareness.

"Unlock Story" is not just a mere memoir.
As a coaching expert who helps others grow, the author reinterprets his own experiences through a 'coaching perspective.'
The key thing he has learned from his three-stage journey as a public servant, leader, and coach is 'self-awareness.'

The confession that he could explain his responsibilities in the organization better than anyone else, but was dumbfounded when faced with the question, “Who am I?” resonated with readers.
We often live our lives defined by someone else's OO, a position or rank in an organization, but how much of our lives are truly defined by our own selves? The author finds a clue to change in this very question.

The 'time of unlocking' he emphasizes is not a special occasion, but the moment when one realizes that a door has closed within oneself.
When that realization comes, curiosity overtakes fear.

“A door that doesn’t knock never opens.”
“Courage begins with the small act of holding a handle.”
These sentences are not just advice, but the grammar of life proven by experience.

Challenge and Action, the Heart of the First Penguin

The author defines himself as a “person who challenges and takes action.”
His challenges always begin with 'just giving it a try', like the time he said "I want to join" to a basketball club that didn't accept female students during his college days, and like the first penguin to jump into the sea before others.

The words “You can’t do it because you’re a woman” actually stimulate his spirit of challenge.
One step forward, rather than hesitating on the ice, opened up countless possibilities.
This scene functions as a metaphor for awakening the 'first penguin within me' within social constraints and familiar safety zones.

It's okay if you're not fully prepared.

Accumulation and Margin: How to Restore the Rhythm of Life

"Unlock Story" evokes the time of accumulation in a society that demands rapid achievement.
The passage that all expertise is the fruit of steady accumulation and all comfort is the price paid for enduring a moment of discomfort comes across like a comma to modern people tired of impatience.

The author explains the value of 'margin' in the language of coaching.
The saying, “Inner space begins with self-management,” is a message that we must secure space to recharge ourselves between work, daily life, and interpersonal relationships.
Moreover, the unhurried breathing and the refined, empathetic style open up a psychological space for the reader, allowing them to feel as if they were thinking, “I, too, can stop for a moment and look inside my own door.”

From challenges for myself to contributions for others, and to prosperity together.

In the latter part, the author changes direction from ‘challenge for myself’ to ‘contribution for others.’
While working as the CEO of a senior job creation company in Dongjak-gu, I learned the meaning of a life of contribution, and later, as a leadership coach, I began to dream of a life where we all prosper together.

During this process, he develops a vision of becoming the president's coach.
This is not an actual president, but a symbol of a 'leader who coaches leaders'.
It is based on the belief that when one's inner self awakens, its influence extends to organizations and society.
This vision is a core theme that runs through the entire Unlocked Story, showing that the ultimate goal of self-growth is connection with others.
