After leaving the company, Chiang Mai
Description
Book Introduction
"After Quitting, Chiang Mai" is a travel essay collection that compiles the records and photos of the time spent healing my tired body and mind in Chiang Mai after quitting my job.
I met people who were warmer than the warm weather, and I gathered the emotions and thoughts I felt while staying in a space, and compiled them into 42 short stories.
A city with warm weather, laid-back people, and easygoing cats.
I just thought that I wanted to live like this, doing yoga without any greed and being surrounded by nature.
As I finished my trip and wrote the book, I was able to come to the realization that while the trip itself is important, taking time to reflect on the thoughts and emotions I felt while traveling is just as important.
The fact that there is nothing but records that look back on me.
Thanks to diligently documenting my travels, I was able to remember this trip for a long time.
I hope that readers will feel at peace and free from any worries while reading this book.
I hope this will provide a little comfort and rest to those who are tired of everyday life.

Into the book
A stranger who stays for a month and then quietly disappears without anyone knowing.
Rose and Chris, who still remembered my face and name and called me affectionately.
Because of those two people, I was able to exist as my own unique self, not as one of those strangers who stay for a while and then leave without anyone knowing.
--- p.106 From “Remembering and Calling My Name”
Now that I have no place to belong, I can do anything and go anywhere I want, but I've set limits for myself.
As poet Ryu Si-hwa said, “Only those who leave home and take the time to face themselves can return home having grown.” I hope that after my trip, I will be able to realize many things and face a changed version of myself.
--- p.116 From “Receiving a Poem Written in Thai”
Because what you can only feel in that moment will never come back, I try to put my phone down for a moment and stay in the moment.
Because there's something more important than the photo here.
