The Second Story of the Library Cat
Description
Book Introduction
Books included for first grade elementary school students
The second story following "The Library Cat"
A picture book journey that is more exciting and enjoyable when you are together!
A new member has joined the Wind Forest Library, where Leo, the library cat, lives.
The name is sugar and salt.
But Leo is not at all happy to see his siblings.
These curious kids roam the library, disrupting naps, stealing snacks, food, and toys, and even disregarding bathroom etiquette! More than once, I've had poop just about to come out of their den.
But Leo, who had been holding back so much, finally got angry and started to scold her.
“Why are you bullying your younger siblings?!!” “We should get along.” …
On a night filled with injustice and frustration, Leo quietly opens the library door.
To receive warm comfort while traveling through picture books.
But what the heck?
Sugar and salt have already entered Leo's picture book world!

Publisher's Review
“The picture book is mine! I can never give it up!”
How dare you look through my picture book! A hunter's instinct flashes through Leo's eyes as he glares at the sugar and salt.
The hair on the whole body stands on end and the claws are exposed.
Even his beard stood up stiffly.
Her buttocks twitch as if she's about to rush in, and her black eyes sparkle.
But sugar and salt are just so clear and innocent.
I'm so excited to play with my brother Leo that I jump into the picture book.
Almost simultaneously, Leo jumps into the picture book!
Will the three cats be able to survive in the picture book?
It's more fun when you watch it together
Dive into the infinite charm of picture books!
Teacher Jihye Choi, who has been running the Wind Forest Picture Book Library on Ganghwa Island for over 10 years, has been contemplating for a long time the second volume of the much-loved "Library Cat."
Then one day, new library members Sugar and Salt came to visit and opened the door to solving my problem.
Sugar and Salt are kittens born in a greenhouse on Earth Day, April 22, 2022.
Although we were born in the same boat, our personalities are completely different.
Sugar is a bright, cheerful, and playful cat, and Salt is a brave and thoughtful cat.
When sugar and salt first came, Leo used to get jealous of his siblings and bully them.
Inside and outside the library, there was a constant stream of clattering, yapping, and meowing.
Every time, I would scold Leo, but on the other hand, I was worried about how Leo would feel if he suddenly had to take care of his two younger siblings.
As I was getting more and more worried about what to do if the cats kept fighting, the three cats gradually became closer and became good brothers who slept together, licked each other's fur, and played together.
One day, when Leo, Sugar, and Salt were sleeping with picture books on their heads, I wondered if the picture books they read together every night might have connected the hearts of the two younger brothers and Leo.
That thought led to the story of this book.
In this picture book journey, the cats go out to find the culprit who pooped on their heads and share snacks all night long.
One day they're heroes, another day they're villains, another day they're cool clouds, and another day they're loyal cats protecting each other from terrifying dinosaurs.
Leo, Sugar, and Salt grow together, realizing that togetherness is more exciting and fun, and that they can have the courage to go on more adventures.
The second meeting between writers Kim Go-dong and Choi Ji-hye
Following “Library Cat,” author Kim Go-dong also worked with teacher Choi Ji-hye on “The Second Story of the Library Cat.”
The author, who waited more than anyone for the second manuscript, captured the warm scenes from various places in the Wind Forest Library with a clear and delicate sensibility, as well as the cute gestures and expressions of the lovely cats that have now become the library's mascots.
The travel scenes in the picture book, each recreated with its own charm and personality, will once again draw readers into the charm of the picture book.
The duo of teacher Jihye Choi, who works with countless children as a butler to cats and a library director, and author Godong Kim, who fell in love with the Wind Forest Library and its cats at first sight, invite readers to the world of picture books that show magic that is several times more enjoyable and exciting when shared together through "The Second Story of the Library Cat."
