We addressed the issue of gender conflict occurring in our society and looked into the core of the arguments surrounding gender conflict.

In 2018, according to a survey by the British public opinion research institute Ipsos, our country ranked first in the gender conflict category.
The novel "Kim Ji-young, Born 1982," which was made into a movie in 2019, was branded a "feminist novel" and would face a barrage of complaints if it were to appear on school recommended reading lists.
In 2021, national archery team member Ansan was embroiled in a feminist controversy and attacked online.
The only reason was that Ansan was attending a women's university and had short hair.
In the 2022 presidential election, a presidential candidate pledged to "abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family," sparking heated debate.
It was a typical trick to gain votes by dividing the gender gap, but the very existence of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has become a hot potato in the gender conflict as reactions between men and women are sharply divided.
According to a 2022 survey by the Chosun Ilbo and Seoul National University's Institute for Social Development, 67% of Koreans responded that "gender conflict" is serious.
In particular, 79.8% of people in their 20s responded that gender conflict is serious.
In 2023, the Hollywood film "Barbie" failed at the Korean box office, citing "Korea's sharp gender conflict."
She said she didn't watch the movie because she was afraid of being labeled a feminist.
In 2024, a medical student murdered his girlfriend of the same age in a building near Gangnam Station, a classic case of dating murder that shocked and terrified women.


Our society is now moving beyond gender ‘conflict’ to gender ‘war.’
Yet, everyone is keeping quiet for fear of being criticized or attacked and labeled a feminist if they bring up the issue of gender 'conflict'.
This book encourages us to talk openly about gender conflict, even if it is uncomfortable, by highlighting how serious the gender conflict is in our society, why we must confront this conflict, and why we must confront it head-on.


We criticized the reality of gender conflict being passed down through generations and created a forum for discussion that would allow people to listen to diverse ideas.



In our society, gender conflict is passed down from generation to generation.
Today, schools have become the front lines of gender conflict, with the rift between boys and girls only deepening.
They spit out hateful words at each other, casually criticize each other's appearances and hurt each other, and act as if each other's very existence is a threat.


Constitutional petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Military Service Act were filed four times in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2023.
The argument that only men should serve in the military and that women should also serve to achieve equality has been a long-standing topic in gender conflict, but it is still running at a parallel line without finding a solution.
Meanwhile, the 'female quota system', which was introduced in recognition of the existence of a glass ceiling, has not achieved results to the point where its effectiveness is questionable, but is constantly being attacked for discriminating against capable men.


American journalist Anna Louise Sussman cited the 'worsening relationship between men and women' as the real reason why our country does not have children.
The serious low birth rate crisis in Korea is actually due to 'serious gender conflict'.
In fact, gender conflict is not a problem that has only been around for a short time.
It can be said that the problems that have festered in a long-standing patriarchal society are only now rising to the surface.
Through this book, we can stop avoiding gender conflict and have the opportunity to look into and understand each other's different thoughts.
