At the end of the 2017 season, national hitter Seung-Yeop Lee retired.
It has been 23 years since he debuted as a professional in 1995 wearing the Samsung Lions uniform.
During that long time, there were many glorious memories, but there were also countless trials that had to be overcome.
Lee Seung-yeop, a man of unwavering determination who never gave up and pursued his clear goal! He left a significant mark on the history of Korean professional baseball, and the KBO League also held the first "retirement tour" in honor of this all-time great hitter.


Baseball is my destiny

Baseball came to Seung-Yeop Lee, a young boy who loved to eat and play, like fate.
In the fourth grade of elementary school, he started playing baseball, even going on a hunger strike for a month to persuade his father, who was not keen on his career as an athlete.
Lee Seung-yeop, who became a baseball player, displayed natural talent and was an outstanding star player as both a pitcher and a hitter during middle and high school, and stood tall as a baseball player representing Korea.

Record-breaking records

After entering professional baseball in 1995, he became the youngest player to hit his 100th home run in 1999, the youngest player to hit his 200th home run in 2001, and a year later, in 2003, he became the youngest player in the world to hit his 300th home run in the shortest game, and set an Asian record with his 56th home run.
After playing in Japanese professional baseball since 2004, he returned to Korea in 2012 and achieved his 500th home run in both Korea and Japan, the most home runs in KBO history (352) in 2013, his 600th home run in both Korea and Japan in 2016, and the first 4,000th base in professional baseball in 2017.
