Description
Book Introduction
A mushroom guide that covers everything about mushrooms!

Our country experiences four seasons of climate change: spring, summer, fall, and winter. The natural scenery is also diverse, allowing us to enjoy the ever-changing beauty of nature on a daily basis.
As natural conditions are so diverse, countless nameless flowers and medicinal herbs bloom, fall, and bloom again in the mountains and fields and around living spaces across the country.
There are so many different types of mushrooms growing in our mountains and fields, but everyone has probably wondered at least once how many types there are and how many of them are edible.

The exact number of mushrooms native to the Korean Peninsula is unknown, but it is estimated to be around 5,000 species, with about 1,600 species reported to date.
Among them, there are known to be about 350 edible mushrooms and about 90 poisonous mushrooms.
Although there are some differences depending on the region, there are about 20 to 30 types of edible mushrooms that have been passed down in Korea since ancient times, including pine mushrooms, mustard mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, egg mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, chestnut mushrooms, wood mushrooms, and neungi mushrooms.

While various experimental research cases are being published on how natural products without artificial additives are beneficial to the human body, recent research results on edible and medicinal mushrooms in particular are attracting attention as they have been revealed to contain anti-tumor and immune-modulating substances and have effects such as anti-aging, regulating body rhythm, preventing adult diseases, and having anti-cancer effects.
As mushrooms have been found to have excellent efficacy as functional foods, they are widely used as health functional foods. However, incidents of poisonous mushroom poisoning are also occurring frequently.
This is because ordinary people who do not have proper knowledge about wild mushrooms pick mushrooms and judge whether or not they are edible based on unfounded rumors and incorrect methods of differentiation.

This book comprehensively covers 160 representative edible and medicinal mushrooms, as well as poisonous mushrooms, that grow wild in Korea's mountains, fields, and living spaces. It describes the characteristics of each mushroom and includes detailed photos of the various shapes of each mushroom, so that it can be used as a mushroom encyclopedia and mushroom guide according to the new revision.

In particular, mushrooms change greatly depending on the growth process, making it difficult for the general public to easily identify them by looking at their shapes. Therefore, we have included photos of the characteristics that appear according to the growth period and habitat so that they can be visually confirmed.
In addition, we have included as many photos of various types as possible to help you compare similar mushrooms and identify each edible and poisonous mushroom, and in particular, we have color-coded them to make them easier to identify whether they are edible or not.
An appendix contains explanations of mushroom structure and terminology.
And it is made in a pocket size so that you can carry it around and look at it anytime, which will increase the happiness of connecting with nature.
