Korean freshwater fish
Description
Book Introduction
"Freshwater Fish of Korea" is a comprehensive guide to all freshwater fish observed or recorded on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea, and contains a total of 233 species of freshwater fish in 39 families in 21 orders, the largest number among all guides published in Korea. It also includes detailed three-dimensional drawings of the body and fin shapes, colors, and other features of the fish so that anyone can easily identify them in the field.
In addition, it was produced so that a vast amount of data can be viewed at a glance, including information on the distribution of freshwater fish by water system, such as upper, middle, and lower streams, and even habitat information.
『Freshwater Fish of Korea』 is the second outdoor color guide following 『Birds of Korea』 published in 2000, which was started by the late Koo Bon-moo, founder and first chairman of LG Evergreen Foundation, Korea's first environmental and ecological foundation, with the hope that it would spark interest in protecting Korea's natural environment and ecosystem.
『Freshwater Fish of Korea』 is not an encyclopedia-style guidebook, but rather a pocket-sized field book that can be easily carried and viewed outdoors by both experts and the general public.
Meanwhile, a total of six people participated in the production of the fish guide, including Dr. Chae Byeong-su of the Freshwater Ecology Research Institute, who is an expert in the field of freshwater fish in Korea; Song Ho-bok, director of the Korean Freshwater Fish Ecology Research Institute; and Park Jong-yeong, professor at Chonbuk National University; painter Jo Gwang-hyeon; Kim Ik-su, professor emeritus at Chonbuk National University (supervisor); and Jo Seong-jang, director of the Boryeong Ecological Center and a field expert who started out as a fisherman.
