Book Introduction
“Doctrine? Systematic theology?
“Do laypeople really need to know theology?”

Theology is a compass for life that every believer needs!

Have you ever set out on a journey without a map or compass? When you're lost and unsure of which direction to take, a guide can help you find your way and safely reach your destination.
The same goes for religious life.
Many believers ask, “I’m not a pastor or a professor, so do I need to know theology?”
However, theology is not simply an academic discipline; it is like a compass that guides the lives of saints on the right path.
As Jonathan Edwards said, theology is necessary for every saint.
Not only is it the most noble and beneficial, but the more you study it, the deeper your faith becomes, it corrects misunderstandings about God and faith, and it protects you from falling into heresy.
Do you find theology and doctrine difficult to approach? Theology is the backbone of faith.
If the frame is shaky, a person cannot stand properly.
No matter how difficult it is, we must climb the mountain to build the muscles of faith.
If you've been a believer for a long time but haven't yet studied doctrine, let's solidify the foundation and framework of your faith through "Easy Doctrine."

Into the book
This book is a book on systematic theology.
Systematic theology is doctrine.
Doctrine serves as the ‘skeleton’ of faith.
If the frame is shaky, can a person stand upright? Who can stand upright when the frame is swaying? The same applies to religious life.
A life of faith is not something that can be achieved through secret methods or tricks.
Fundamentals are the most important.
The frame must be strong.
Systematic theology plays just that role.
Through this book, I hope that ordinary people will become more than just 'ordinary' in the skeleton of their faith; rather, they will become more outstanding.
Just as clothes get wet in a drizzle, I believe that if you read this book carefully, the framework of your faith will become stronger without you realizing it, and the skeleton of your faith will gradually become stronger.
A sound systematic theology can handle this task.

--- From the "Introductory Note"

The reason for studying theology is to build one's life.
What exactly is it that makes life worth living? It's "change."
Change must happen.
To be more precise, 'before' doing theology and 'after' doing theology must be different.
Difference is the key.
There must be a difference in life.

--- 「Chapter 1.
From “Systematic Theology for Ordinary People”

The Bible can provide a powerful method for solving any of the most pressing contemporary issues, and it can also provide principles that allow us to accurately grasp the essence of each issue.
The reason is that the Bible always provides us with ultimate principles that touch the core of essence.
(…) The standard by which Christians discern numerous modern issues and problems is “Whether to please people or God?”
Another expression from the text to describe this is, “Should we seek pleasure from people or from God?”

--- Chapter 2.
From "Alpha and Omega"

All humans are theists.
A theist is someone who can recognize God by nature.
The key is which god you serve as God.
All human beings are beings who by nature cannot help but serve God.
He is a being full of religiousness.
Therefore, at the very least, any human being must serve and live by any god.
Atheists worship the very idea that there is no God as their god.
Alcoholics live their lives worshipping alcohol as their god.
Gamblers live by worshipping gambling as their god.
(…) What is the point? It means that all humans are by nature 'religious' and all humans are by nature 'worshipers'.
In fact, all humans must live by worshipping, whether they worship the true God or some other false god.
In that sense, all humans are theists.

--- 「Chapter 3.
From "Abandoning the vain gods of the world"

The reason for discussing the suffering of the last days is not to fall into pessimism.
Of course, this does not mean that we should fall into defeatism.
Rather, the greater the suffering of the last days, the more brilliantly will the one perfect hope that all humanity longs for shine.
As the world rushes toward the end of time, we will realize how much of a great hope, great comfort, and great peace Jesus Christ is to us.
I don't know how lucky I am to have Jesus Christ.
What a relief.

--- Chapter 5.
From "I'm really glad"

Some people think that the gospel is only necessary for non-believers or new believers.
If you think like this, you're in big trouble.
Absolutely not.
The gospel is necessary for us to be saved, it is necessary after we are saved, and it will still be necessary for us until Jesus returns.
Because the gospel is still the ‘bread of life’ that gives life to our spirits today.

If you are a true believer, you must now climb the mountain even if it is difficult.
If you keep going without giving up even when it's hard, you will develop the muscles of faith and strengthen your cardiopulmonary endurance.
As you continue to climb, you will eventually acquire the know-how to climb the mountain skillfully and even gain a certain understanding of the geography of the rugged mountain range.
As your faith grows, your losing habits will turn into winning habits.

--- Chapter 6.
From “Grace upon grace”

Let's think about it.
If each of us had our own compasses, each with different scales, angles, and reference points, would we be able to reach our final destination together? If we set out with compasses pointing in different directions, we would inevitably end up heading towards different destinations.
That's how important theology is.
‘Confession of faith’ is to internalize theology and confess it with your lips and life.
Therefore, there is a church only where “two or three gather in my name.”
You can never become 'one body' unless you confess Jesus Christ as 'the same Lord'.

--- Chapter 7.
Where two or three gather in my name,

Christian eschatology is not a discussion of the moment of 'despair'.
Christian eschatology is an endlessly blessed discussion of the 'blessed hope.'
The Greek word translated as 'blessed' is 'makavrio', which means 'happy', 'blessed', 'fortunate', etc. It is a word with a lot of bright images.
Christian eschatology is not dark.
Christian eschatology is bright.
happy.
Blessed.
I'm looking forward to it.

In fact, theology is not about being good.
Even if you feel emotionally conflicted, even if you don't want to follow it, even if you don't particularly like it, good theology is to proclaim the truth of the Bible with a humble attitude and posture.

Publisher's Review
Professor Jae-eun Park, an outstanding theologian and communicator
Easy doctrine explained through the Bible and storytelling!

Systematic theology that is accessible while maintaining weight and depth.

This book, which explains doctrines in language that anyone can understand based on a solid foundation of the Bible, has the following characteristics:

First, it's easy.
The essential weight of theology is taken seriously, but the method of delivery increases accessibility.
Second, it is a book for ‘ordinary people.’
This is not an academic book requiring advanced discussion, but a book for the general public.
Third, it was solved only with the Bible.
Because biblical theology is the most correct theology.
Fourth, it is a book of doctrine for the framework of faith, that is, systematic theology.
"Easy Doctrine" explains the seven major theories of systematic theology one by one in a storytelling style.
It explains core doctrines such as the attributes of God, human nature, the salvation of Jesus Christ, and the role of the church, encompassing the human will.
To aid understanding, a 'Key Terms' section is provided for each chapter, and at the end of each section, a 'Summary of Contents in One Chapter' is provided to help readers grasp and internalize the content.
Additionally, it leads to the maturity of faith beyond simple knowledge acquisition through 'discussion questions' that can be used for everything from personal meditation to small group sharing.

The basis for choice in a complex and confusing modern society
“The Bible speaks all the principles.”

Today's society is in turmoil: the new era of AI, the church's involvement in politics, an unstable economy, and a chaotic culture.
How should Christians act when faced with the challenges and conflicts they face for the first time? Can the Bible answer modern issues? "Easy Doctrine" argues that the Bible still holds the answers.
Because the Bible 'does not say everything, but it says all the principles.'
Let us equip ourselves with the ability to make perfect and good choices as people of God through theology based on the Bible.
"Easy Doctrine" helps us experience that the correct knowledge of God is the foundation of faith that affects every area of our daily lives.
