Prayer for Humility

Into the book
Humility is not something we bring to God or something God gives to us.
It is simply the consciousness that we are utterly nothing.
This kind of consciousness arises when we see that God is truly all-powerful, and it is within this consciousness that we acknowledge that God is all-powerful.

If humility is the root of a tree, then the essence of humility will inevitably be revealed in every branch, leaf, and fruit of that tree.
If humility was the first and all-embracing grace of Jesus' life and the secret of his atonement, then the health and strength of our spiritual lives will depend entirely on whether we are clothed with this first and all grace.
Therefore, we should make humility the highest thing we admire in Christ, the most urgent thing we ask of Him, and we should cherish and desire it so much that we seek to obtain it even at the expense of all else.

God is faithful.
Just as water always flows to a low place to fill it, the moment God discovers a person's lowly and empty state, His glory and power flow into that person, lifting him up and blessing him.
He who humbles himself will be exalted.
Our concern should be to humble ourselves.
Then God will exalt us.
He will accomplish it with His almighty power and His great love.

Humility is one of the most difficult things to achieve, and one that requires our utmost effort.
Humility is a grace that comes to us in power only when we are filled with the Holy Spirit and walk with Christ who dwells within us and He lives in us.

We must realize that neither the church nor the believers can ever be transformed into what Christ desires unless we recognize Christ's humility as His highest glory, His first commandment, and our greatest blessing.

True humility arises only when we realize our nothingness in the light of God, and so completely break away from ourselves and cast ourselves aside, allowing God to become everything.
A person who does this and can say, “I have abandoned myself and found the Lord,” will not compare himself to others.
Because in the presence of God, all thoughts of self are forever abandoned.
Such a person regards himself as nothing, and treats his neighbors as those who seek nothing for themselves.
Such a person is truly a servant of God, and also a servant of all people for the sake of God.

In Jesus, the Holy One of God who makes us holy, divine humility was the secret of his life, his death, and his exaltation.
One sure test of our holiness is whether we are humble before God and men.
Humility is what reveals our true nature.
Humility is the beauty of holiness and the full bloom of holiness.

--- p.

We can be holy only to the extent that we know God and have a relationship with Him.
Also, we can be truly humble only to the extent that we know God and have a relationship with Him.
Because humility is nothing but the disappearance of myself in seeing that God is all.
The most holy person is also the most humble.

For Christians, humility is not a virtue that is nice to have but not necessary.
It is a virtue that must be possessed.
Because to practice love, the greatest virtue of Christianity, we must be humble.
A proud person cannot practice the love of God and love of neighbor that Jesus spoke of.
At the heart of love lies humility.
In that sense, we can say that humility is a virtue that comes before love.

A textbook on humility

Andrew Murray's Humility is a classic among classics.
This book could be called a textbook on humility.
This book tells us what humility is and how Jesus, who is humility itself, showed us humility.
And he teaches us how we should emulate his humility and how we can practice humility in our lives and faith.

Humility, which is repeatedly spoken of in every chapter, is the glory of all creation and the model of life and faith that Jesus, the mystery of redemption and godliness, showed to the redeemed.
Humility makes us pious, strengthens our faith, and establishes our faith correctly.
This book teaches us the benefits of such humility.
If you read this book, you will understand why it has become a classic.

It's that valuable.

Humility is not something that comes easily.
It can only be achieved through a long and fierce battle with our sinful nature.
And even if you get it, it doesn't mean you can own it forever.
I can't feel safe even for a moment.
Because of our nature, we can lose what we gain as soon as we gain it.
Therefore, we must constantly strive to acquire humility, and we must also constantly strive to maintain humility.
Therefore, humility is truly a precious treasure.
If you calmly follow this book's lead, even if it takes time, you will eventually obtain the precious treasure of humility.
