Love, live, and evangelize with the Trinity
Description
Book Introduction
If you strive to know Him, you will be free from guilt and hardship.
We will be happy to join you in your mission.

Recommended by Missionary Kim Seong-guk, Professor Yoo Tae-hwa, and Pastor Lee Seung-je

How does the Trinity relate to mission? We typically place theology and mission within distinct areas of Christian life.
This is because doctrines such as the Trinity belong to the 'intellectual' realm, whereas missions belong to the 'practical' part of life.
However, Michael Reeves explains that the doctrine of the Trinity has everything to do with the practice of mission.
When Christians see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as divine persons filled with love, overflowing into creation and human life, our perspective on mission is fundamentally transformed.
Missionary work is no longer a duty or a hardship.
Instead, as we realize the abundant love that flows from God and rejoice in receiving that love, we too are motivated to embark on missionary work.
Furthermore, we will live our lives loving the church with joy.

Into the book
Going out on a mission is not a primary thing.
It is secondary.
I hope that above all else you love God, and that your mission is nothing less than telling the world about the One you love.

--- p.25

The Trinity is where mission begins.
If you strive to know Him, you will be free from guilt and hardship and joyfully join Him in His mission.

--- p.51

So that we may see our triune God a little more clearly, so that we do not feel merely superficial excitement, nor do we merely seek out tidbits of information like honey tips for life, but so that our hearts are shaken and melted, and we discover that God is more satisfying than anything else.

--- p.53

The mission has already begun because of His presence.
All we have to do is get involved.
Missions doesn't begin with a list of tasks you have to accomplish, but with God's love for you.

--- p.74

Jesus is the one who went out first because he loved you.
The Christian life is about being where He is.
It's dangerous to go outside.
It is to go out to a place of rejection, a place where there are crosses, garbage heaps, robbers, and graves.

--- p.78

When confronted with the concept of truth, people wave their hands like Pilate, ask, “What is truth?” and then turn away.
You really don't ask that question.
They are not really truth seekers who are trying to find the ultimate meaning.

--- p.103

Guilt is a creepy motivator.
It's terrible.
But it's strange.
Because people always use guilt to make people work.
Make people feel guilty to donate, and make people feel guilty to evangelize.
But ultimately, guilt prevents us from functioning properly.

--- p.114

“Flesh” includes our instinctive attempt to bring about God’s blessings through our own efforts, as Abraham did with Ishmael.
This refers to our instinctive attempt to bribe God and gain His favor.
The faith we earn is the body.
