The Lord is my refuge
The Lord is my refuge
Description
Book Introduction
"Every experience that God allows us is
"It is the perfect preparation for a future that only He can see." - Corrie Ten Boom

It testifies through true stories that God, who is able to be present even in the midst of unimaginable despair, is our only safe refuge.
Every time hardship comes, we ask ourselves, 'Why?'
It is the nature of the mind to want to avoid suffering if possible, but the realities of life are superior to that, constantly surrounding us with the darkness of despair.
There are those who have endured the weight of this hardship and despair before us.
Among them, it is necessary to meet Corrie Ten Boom, who provided refuge to Jews during World War II and resisted the Nazis, but was imprisoned in a concentration camp.
There are many nicknames for Corrie Ten Boom.
The first female watchmaker in the Netherlands, a Holocaust survivor, a war healer, and one of the most notable evangelists of the 20th century.
Corrie Ten Boom was the only one of her family to survive the infamous Holocaust to tell the story of how faith ultimately triumphs over evil.
Furthermore, after the war, it spreads the message that only God's love and forgiveness can heal the pain and wounds of war.
Her remarkable story of love and forgiveness will challenge you to think about your attitude and approach to life, and the moment you close this book, you will make the most precious confession in your life: “The Lord is my refuge.”

Into the book
As night fell, memories of my childhood flashed before my eyes.
Strangely, I kept thinking about it.
And very vividly too.
Now I know.
Those memories are the key to opening the future, not the past.
We also now know that our life experiences, when used by God, become a perfect and mysterious preparation for the work He will entrust to us in the future.
But I didn't know it then.
I also didn't know then that even in the midst of monotonous and predictable daily life, there was a new future to prepare for.
Lying on the bed in my room on the top floor, I thought.
Some moments from long ago remain vivid despite the stains of time.
That was all I knew at the time.
Those moments were strangely clear and vivid.
As if it wasn't over yet, as if there was something he had to say to me.

From the "100th Anniversary Party"

“What if Corey takes this with him when he gets off the train?”
I got up and pulled my bag with all my might.
The bag was full of watches and watch parts that I had bought in Amsterdam that morning.
“It’s too heavy.”
“Yeah, a father who asks his young daughter to lift something so heavy must be a really pathetic father.
Knowledge is the same, Corey.
There is some knowledge that is too burdensome for a young child to know.
When you get a little bigger and a little stronger, you'll be able to handle it.
“For now, just trust that Dad will carry the bag for you.”
I was satisfied with my father's answer.
I was not just satisfied, I was also incredibly at peace.
There were many other difficult questions I wanted to know the answers to, but I decided to leave them all to my father with peace of mind.

From "The Table Without Empty Seats"

My father never said anything useless.
Instead, he said this:
“Cory, do you know what the greatest pain in the world is? It’s love.
Love is the most powerful force in the world.
When love is blocked, it means suffering.
There are two things we can do when that happens.
The only way to do this is to kill the love in your heart so you don't get hurt anymore.
Of course, a part of yourself dies at this time as well.
Corey, another thing is to ask God to open another way for that love to go forward.
God loves Karel.
More than you love.
If you ask God, He will give you love for Karel.
A love that cannot be stopped or destroyed by anything.
When people fail to love in the conventional ways they know, God gives us the perfect way to love.”
I didn't even realize it when I heard my father's footsteps turning the corner of the stairs.
That my father had given me something more than just a key to get me through this difficult time.
Little did I know that He had placed in my hands the secret to unlocking a room far darker than this, a room where there was nothing lovable on a human level.
---「Chapter 3.
From "Karel"

A mother's love was always the kind that came true with a warm pot of soup and a sewing basket.
But even now, when that became impossible, my mother's love remained intact.
Mom loved us as she sat in the chair by the window.
He looked down at the people passing by on the street and loved them.
And that love embraced beyond the streets, this city, the land of the Netherlands, and the whole world.
So I found out.
That love is bigger than the walls that confine it.
