Imran, three hundred persimmon flowers
Description
Book Introduction
『Imjin War, Three Hundred Persimmon Flowers』 is a historical fantasy novel that unfolds around the courage and sacrifice of the three hundred warriors of Joseon during the turbulent history of the Imjin War.
The author presented a new interpretation of the story of history while lecturing on Herodotus's "History" in a class at Busan National University of Education.
At that time, at the site of the Battle of Jakwon Pass, the moment I encountered the number "300" and the "cliff road" called Jakwon Pass, I used my imagination to connect the Battle of Thermopylae 2,500 years ago with the Battle of Jakwon Pass during the Imjin War in Joseon.
The novel vividly recreates historical events, moving between ancient and modern times, reality and dreams, while delicately capturing the stories of human hope and despair, courage and betrayal.
Readers follow the example of Officer A-Mong and the young boy Min-gi, experiencing childhood dreams and the realities of the battlefield, bonds with comrades, and poignant relationships with family, and reflecting on human nature and the weight of the times.
The tension of battle, the subtlety of emotion, and the blend of historical facts and the author's imagination make this work transcend the bounds of fantasy fiction, allowing readers to reflect on the depth of humanity and history.
It also contains useful content that helps growing teenagers understand the world and reflect on themselves.

Publisher's Review
- A historical fantasy depicting the courage and sacrifice of the three hundred warriors of Joseon and Sparta.
A novel that explores human hope and despair, choices and growth, moving between dreams and reality.
『Imjin War, Three Hundred Persimmons』 is an outstanding historical fantasy novel that combines historical facts and literary imagination. It vividly depicts the courage and sacrifice of the three hundred warriors of Joseon, focusing on the Battle of Jakwon Pass during the Imjin War.
Inspired by Herodotus's "History," the author interweaves historical events from ancient Greece and Joseon, allowing readers to experience both human courage and strategic wisdom.
The narrative, which naturally connects reality and dreams, past and present, allows readers to go beyond reading history and deeply empathize with the events and characters.
Furthermore, it is a meaningful work that connects the value of the little-known Battle of Jakwon Pass in the early days of the Imjin War to the universal sensibilities of people around the world through comparison with a world historical perspective.
The story, particularly centered around the military officer Amon and the young boy Min-gi, delicately depicts childhood dreams and the reality of the battlefield, bonds with comrades, and poignant relationships with family, and powerfully conveys human emotions of hope and despair, courage and betrayal.
The urgency of battle, the psychological conflict, and the characters' choices and responsibilities come to life even more vividly within the historical context of the time, allowing readers to gain deeper insight into historical events and human nature.
Moreover, the novel's frame-like structure and use of dream devices allow readers to experience historical events not as mere records, but as experiential experiences.
The journey of Amon, a military officer who experiences events that connect reality in his dreams, explores the inner growth and hope of human beings even in the chaos of war.
In this process, readers simultaneously feel the weight of courage and solidarity, loyalty and betrayal, life and death, and come to a new understanding of the meaning of historical events.
Finally, 『Imjin War, Three Hundred Persimmons』, while based on historical facts, adds a rich imagination to deeply explore human nature, the transience of life, and the meaning of dreams and hopes.
Beyond historical fiction, this work conveys the human choices and sacrifices in war, as well as the comfort and reflection that dreams offer. It will provide both inspiration and intellectual satisfaction to all readers interested in history and human psychology.
