This book confronts head-on the essence of the conflicts our society faces today.
It is not a simple ideological conflict or a power struggle between political parties.
The most fundamental challenge facing the Republic of Korea in this era is the question of choice that determines the direction of the system.
We now stand at a crossroads: will we defend liberal democracy or allow our freedom to be taken away by those pursuing totalitarianism?
One side has been monopolizing social morality with words like justice, equality, democracy, and human rights under the name of ‘progress.’
But at some point, those words ceased to be a means of explaining reality, becoming a mask that obscured it and a means of distorting common sense. They cried out for "justice," but were always only concerned with the interests of their own faction.
While talking about 'democracy', they ignored procedural legitimacy and shook the rule of law.
While advocating for ‘correcting history,’ he denied the founding of the Republic of Korea and belittled the struggle for freedom.
In the end, what they created was a huge 'idol' made of language.
The idol obscured reality, incited the people, and threatened the very foundations of freedom.
Conservatives, on the other hand, have quietly protected the community.
Conservatives have focused on values that must not be destroyed, rather than on flowery rhetoric.
An attitude toward life that preserves the memory of the community, respects the order of the constitution, and realizes freedom with responsibility.
Conservatism is more than a political stance; it is a practical philosophy that sustains civilization.
This book is an attempt to restore that very philosophy.
I wanted to uncover the structure of hypocrisy hidden under the name of 'progress' and re-establish the true face of conservatism—responsibility, moderation, order, and freedom—within it, using the language of reason.
In particular, in recent years, South Korea has experienced very serious systemic shaking.
The functions of state institutions were paralyzed by repeated impeachments and budget cuts, and the system was experiencing a breakdown in almost all areas, including security, diplomacy, education, and the judiciary.
In it, the people gradually came to realize.
This is not a problem of the regime, but a problem of the system.
The most striking change, surprisingly, began among the younger generation.
The '2030 generation', who have been indifferent to politics or accustomed to leftist language, are now beginning to ask themselves.
"What is true freedom?", "Who is shouting false justice?" They began to study for themselves, ask questions, and stand as the protagonists of this era, distinguishing between truth and lies.
And on March 1, 2025, the squares of South Korea came alive again.
Millions of people took to the streets, and crowds that organizers estimated at over 6 million people swarmed the country.
At the center of that square stood none other than a new generation—a generation just awakening to freedom, the true young conservatives of this era.
That day was not just another rally.
That day was the day when the Republic of Korea declared that it would regain the truth.
It was a cry of the people to go beyond the illusion of the name of 'progress' and recapture the essence of 'freedom', and it was a choice for a new era to end the era dominated by 'idols' and speak again in the language of 'reason'.
President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment will not heal the wounds in the hearts of conservative citizens for a long time.
But his departure is by no means the end.
Rather, it was the beginning.
The war against the system he initiated became an opportunity for the conservatives of this country, especially the young generation in their 20s and 30s, to deeply realize the importance of the system and their responsibility to protect freedom.
And that awakening will become the hot spark that will rebuild the Republic of Korea.
History always begins to be rewritten from the awakening of youth.
Now, with the shouts of that day, we must write a new era of freedom.
It is time for the silent majority to rise up and rebuild the Republic of Korea in the name of a new 'conservatism' so that 'reason' can be established in the place of the fallen 'idols.'
This book was written to record that voice.
Beyond the illusion of the name 'progressive', we wanted to prove what kind of philosophy and logic 'conservatives' have to restore this country to health.
The author wanted to show why, in the midst of these turbulent times, the word "conservative" should be a source of pride, not shame.
‘Freedom’ is not a right granted to everyone, but a value that can only be maintained through someone’s responsibility and dedication.
