Publisher's Review
- Korea's only dementia magazine connecting memory and care!

Dementia Books, a publishing company specializing in dementia, has been working with the highest priority on providing accurate information about dementia and creating a dementia-friendly society that shares warm comfort and hope.
As a result of these efforts, we have finally published the inaugural issue of Dementia, Korea's first and only quarterly magazine specializing in dementia, in time for World Dementia Day in 2025.

〈Dementia〉 builds on the foundation of knowledge accumulated through existing dementia-related books published by Dementia Books, providing a balanced mix of in-depth analysis, insight, and stories from people living with dementia.
Maintaining a perspective of "on-the-ground" and "diversity," this magazine features in-depth analysis from experts, a view of the world from the perspective of dementia patients and their families, and stories of those striving for a better future.

While dealing with the weighty and difficult subject of dementia and caregiving, "Dementia" strives to warm the hearts of readers and deliver a positive message about life. It will offer warm comfort and useful information to those with dementia and their families, and new insights into dementia and caregiving to those seeking to understand the disease.

As Korea enters a super-aging society and everyone is concerned about dementia, we ask for your warm encouragement and support for Dementia, which will cover the most necessary policies and latest trends each season, accumulate vivid wisdom and warm empathy from the field, and become a new indicator for a dementia-friendly society.

The inaugural issue, Fall 2025, contains a variety of articles, including:

ㆍ SPECIAL ISSUE: A village that doesn't exist in Korea
We introduce Grundtvig, a dementia village in Fujisawa, Japan, and highlight the philosophy of a care community that recognizes dementia patients as co-residents, not just patients.
Here, relationships are valued over drugs, autonomy over rules, and care is understood as 'life' rather than 'service.'

Cover Story: Yongin Sunflower Nursing Home
With the belief that nursing homes should be places where dementia patients 'live' together, rather than simply 'being' there, we hear about the care philosophy of Director Bae Jeong-eun of 'Yongin Sunflower Nursing Home', which respects individual preferences and helps dementia patients live naturally rather than confining them in a facility, and views the abnormal behavior of dementia patients as something to be respected rather than controlled.
We hear about her operating philosophy, inspired by the spirit of the Dutch village of Hogebeek, and her dream of creating a truly dementia-friendly care community.

FEATURE: Alzheimer's Disease Drug: A 'Torn Road'
We take an in-depth look at the cost-effectiveness of Leqembi, a new Alzheimer's disease drug that is causing controversy around the world.
We cover the Japanese government's case of drug price reductions, the UK health authorities' hard-line stance, and the results of cost-effectiveness analyses in Korea, presenting a discussion on the clinical value and actual perceived effectiveness of new drugs.

In addition, the inaugural issue of Dementia contains useful information and expert insights that are essential for all of us living in a super-aging society.

In the INTERVIEW, we will introduce writer Jo Ki-hyeon, the representative of 'N-inbun', who emphasizes that dementia care is a social task, not an individual burden, and works to publicize the experiences of young caregivers (young caregivers), director Jo Eun-hee of the Kim Mo-im Nursing Research Institute, and attorney Song Young-shin. In the CEO INTERVIEW, you can hear the stories of young entrepreneurs who are pioneering new paths in the field of dementia care.

In COLUMN, former KBS announcer Shin Eun-kyung shares her experience of letting go of the 'tight rope' she was holding on to at important moments in her life, and honestly shares her experience of finding new meaning in life through 'quit', breaking away from 'grit', which emphasizes passion and perseverance.
POLICY delves into dementia-related policies and the latest information, including the current state of the per capita dementia care cost increase and the expansion of the "Dementia Care Physician Pilot Project."
CULTURE features literary and artistic works dealing with dementia, and speaks of the beauty of living with dementia.
COGNITIVE HEALTH provides dementia prevention information that can be put into practice in everyday life, including a brain-boosting diet and how to correctly distinguish between dementia and forgetfulness.
