Unleashed
Description
Book Introduction
Now, the answer is not 'upgrade' but 'redefinition'!
Instead of thinking about what to 'fill in' more, think about what 'already' exists and how to make it into a 'weapon'!
In an age of unpredictable upheaval, the most dangerous thing to do is to cling to past formulas for success.
In an era of rapidly changing trends and information that was certain yesterday becoming incorrect today, unconditionally adapting to the changes and growth society demands is not only unrealistic but also cannot lead to true competitiveness.
The author, who works as a Google Customer Solutions Manager and is the leader most sought after by CEOs in Korea, suggests that the growth weapon needed in these times is not to try to create or acquire something new that you don't have, but to discover new possibilities by reexamining and redefining what you already have.
This will provide unique and powerful insights to anyone struggling with growth and competitiveness.

Into the book
'Unleash' means to untie a dog or wild animal, but in this book it is used to mean to liberate the possibility and potential of something.
Potential and possibility are often said to be 'developed' rather than 'liberated' by untangling them.
However, possibilities and potential are not something that are created anew; they already exist.
It's just that I was unable to write freely because I was tightly bound by negative and prejudiced views.
Possibility and potential exist everywhere, in everyone.
Unrise is not just passing this by, but rediscovering and redefining it.
Furthermore, rather than trying to create or acquire something new that I don't have, unleash is about dismantling and reassembling what I already have, thereby rediscovering values and possibilities that no one has seen before.
--- p.006
Sometimes I see people respond to an idea someone suggests by saying, “I’ve never thought of that before,” or “I know because I’ve done it all…”
I understand that the intention is to reduce trial and error.
But the idea that because my idea failed, you will surely fail too is stubbornness and self-righteousness.
It would be a mistake to mistake this kind of thinking, which holds back someone from challenging themselves, for insight.
On the other hand, people who know how to unleash know that even with the same idea, the results can be completely different if the timing and subject of putting it into practice are different.
Rather than hastily judging whether it is possible or not, we will give you wings and encourage you to take on the challenge.
Just imagine.
How would someone like this change those around them, whether as a leader, teacher, parent, or colleague? And what would change for me personally if I were that person?
--- p.038~039
This isn't about developing your potential, maximizing your strengths, and making up for your weaknesses.
The only way to restore the vitality of a dehydrated watermelon and its wilted outer leaves is to turn back time.
So, if it's dehydrated, if it's wilted, if it's withered, let's cook it in the way that best suits its characteristics.
In that sense, the potential and possibilities I am talking about are by no means synonymous with strengths and advantages.
Potential and possibility are not only in my strengths and advantages, but in everything I have.
Therefore, we must learn to view the environment, tools, information, materials, etc. as simply 'characteristics' rather than arbitrarily judging them as strengths and weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages.
--- p.066
“Can you tell me what my performance level is?” A team member sometimes asks me this question.
Only those who want to grow further can ask such questions.
Most people are satisfied and relieved by completing their assigned tasks on time, but some go one step further and try to grow through their work.
It's about knowing that you have greater possibilities and potential, that you can grow further.
The reason I emphasize positivity and optimism so much is because these two things are absolutely necessary for Unleash.
Unleash is about letting go of stereotypes and discovering the possibilities and potential that already exist within you through a new perspective.
Therefore, it is most important not to doubt the very existence of possibility and potential.

In 2012, Korean-American Kim Yong was nominated as the president of the World Bank, beating out strong candidates, creating a stir.
Some time later, he humbly said in an interview, “This is something that can’t happen to someone like me.”
·… ·… This is an anecdote told by an acquaintance who works at a headhunting firm. Obama met Kim Yong at a dinner after being appointed and said, “I was very surprised during the interview.
He said, “Of all the answers I’ve received from countless applicants, this was the most exquisite,” and stuck out his tongue.
Whether my circumstances are a handicap or not depends entirely on my perspective.
Even in the case of former President Kim Yong, if we focus on the word "bank," the fact that he is a medical professional may seem like a handicap. However, if we consider that the organization's mission is to eradicate poverty and develop the economy in the poorest countries, it can actually be a strength.

Publisher's Review
Cho Yong-min: The Leader Most Wanted to Meet by South Korean CEOs
How to effectively respond to the unpredictable future he presents
“Don’t try to change yourself into a better person.
You just have to bring out what is already inside you!”
For us living in an age of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity), the path to a successful and fulfilling life is shrouded in chaos and impossible to predict.
There was a time when people would eagerly await the success stories of those who succeeded through stock and real estate investments, which offered the opportunity to create new myths. However, with the rapidly cooling real estate market, inflation, and high prices, and the resulting unstable investor sentiment, it is no longer possible to pin hope on financial investment.
In these unpredictable times, more and more people are seeking new meaning in their daily lives and work through "new life," "routine and sharing," and "ultimate self-development."
However, the standards and future-oriented talents required by this era are quite different from those of the past.
In the past, we have tried to obtain what we did not have and fill in what we lacked.
More certifications, higher degrees, wider networks, the latest equipment, and the best information, etc.
For him, I have been struggling from dawn to dusk to upgrade myself and create a diverse portfolio.
However, no matter how many certifications and degrees you obtain, or how much cutting-edge maintenance and information you have, they can easily become useless in the face of new changes and challenges.
The more this happens, the more we feel our own shortcomings instead of giving up and cling to filling and changing more things.
It's a vicious cycle, and frustration only builds up in this inadequate reality.
'Unleash' is the most certain alternative to break this vicious cycle.
Because instead of trying to create or acquire something I don't have, I discover new possibilities by reexamining and redefining what I already have.
Author Yongmin Cho, who introduced shocking perspectives and new perspectives through his first book, "Unbound," introduces the somewhat unfamiliar concept of "unleash" in this book, presenting a deeper and more practical problem-solving methodology that "Unbound" failed to provide.
Self-development that is nothing more than self-satisfaction
For those tired of endless self-exploitation
Practical and sustainable self-survival strategies
The dictionary definition of 'unleash' is to release something by loosening its strings.
It is mainly used to mean to untie a dog or wild beast, but what this book seeks to liberate through unleashing is not wild beasts, but the possibilities and potential of an individual.
Unleash is about rediscovering and redefining the possibilities and potential that exist everywhere and for everyone, without simply overlooking them.
However, it is different from the obvious message of ‘developing potential, maximizing strengths, and compensating for weaknesses’, as in the existing concept.
Unleashed no longer sees handicaps and shortcomings as something to be overcome.
It allows you to see your situation, materials, information, tools, and even the problems you face with a new perspective.
It rediscovers '90% of apples lost in the typhoon' as '10% of apples that survived the typhoon', 'canned beer crushed by the earthquake' as 'heroes who fought against the earthquake', and 'selling filial piety products' as 'new product promotion channels'.
If self-development is closer to 'invention', which seeks to create potential that one does not have, then unleash is more like 'discovery', which seeks out potential that one did not know existed.
If self-development is the effort to create possibilities 'despite' adverse circumstances, unleash is the discovery of new potential 'thanks to' adverse circumstances.
Daniel Arsham, an omnidirectional artist, is colorblind.
Color blindness is a fatal weakness for a visual artist, and his achievements can be said to be remarkable achievements made 'despite' his color blindness.
However, from the perspective of Unleash, this is interpreted differently.
For someone like Daniel Arsham, who is capable of unleash, color blindness is another possibility and potential.
He was able to create his own unique world of works using black and white materials such as lime, obsidian, and volcanic ash 'thanks to' his unique characteristic of being color blind.
We can easily find such unconventional examples around us.
If only you had the discerning eye to recognize him.
The author met these people repeatedly and was able to complete this book after exploring their secrets.
Based on specific cases and data, I wrote about the basic conditions required for Unleash, how to create new value through Unleash, and how Unleash can be used as a growth weapon to discover your own possibilities and potential.
Through this, readers will gain diverse insights into how to solve various problems they encounter in the real world, how Unleash can transform their daily lives and work, and even learn how to create major innovations.
“As the waves of change grow stronger, we must no longer cling to the successes of the past and must shift our thinking.
Let's stop trying to fill and upgrade ourselves and look inside ourselves.
And through this new lens of unleash, let's look at what I have now, what I can deconstruct and reassemble to create something new.
“This book will give readers the opportunity to see new possibilities and potential in everything I hold in my hands.”
How does Unleash solve the problems that come my way?
Could it become a future growth weapon that helps you discover your own potential and possibilities?
After properly understanding the concept of 'unleash', we will cover in detail how to solve various problems we face in reality through 'unleash' and how to properly use it as a growth weapon.
Based on numerous questions the author has received from audiences and readers, it will provide practical solutions that can transform personal lives, work, and even the world.
The most important and fundamental keyword among them is the power to grasp the ‘essence.’
The author calls this the 'North Star', which is not a specific goal to pursue, but rather the right direction I should go.
The North Star shines forever, guiding our entire lives in one direction.
In that sense, for someone with a North Star, there is no success that comes from rising above failure.
However, there is no concept of failure in the first place; there are only cases where the course needs to be slightly adjusted during the long journey towards the North Star.
The author uses his own case to explain how to avoid losing sight of the North Star's light with a six-month plan.
We introduce specific ways to unlock, such as 3D time management methods that unlock 24 hours, listening skills common to successful people, and questioning methods that are carefully designed to elicit the best answers.
Even if you have to kick the covers every night due to mistakes and failures, big or small, the resilience to get up from those failures and move forward can also be called Unleash.
When you reject the hasty judgments of those around you that say something is impossible for anyone to do or that you cannot do it, and look at everything you have with a fresh perspective, and use all your past experiences and failures as a stepping stone to success and turn them into your own weapons, your resilience will grow.
The author says that after kicking the blanket once, he feels relieved because he felt like he had lived another day fiercely, taking on many challenges. So, his 'kick the blanket without hesitation' will continue tomorrow.
“In today’s world, where new fields and new jobs are constantly emerging, what I can do tomorrow is more important than what I accomplished yesterday.
We live in an era where the new standard for success is how much you can unleash yourself, free from the constraints of outdated specifications or backgrounds.
Now we are going to do something that no one has ever done before, something that has never existed before.
“I sincerely hope that wherever, whenever, and whatever you do, it will be a thrilling challenge, and that Unleash will serve as a powerful and effective weapon to make it happen.”
