Enlightenment
Description
Book Introduction
For a life without regrets! A fresh start!
The new book, "Enlightenment," by Venerable Pomnyun, who teaches us how to live happily through "The Monk's Sermon," "Mom's Class," and "Prayer," is a fundamental teaching that anyone can live a free and happy life wherever they are, and that to do so, they must first open their eyes.
Many people cling to the past or fear the future that has not yet arrived.
It's not that I don't want to live in the present, but rather that I close my mind's eyes and spend time as a habit, not knowing what it means to be awake in this moment or why I should do so.
And then they cry out that the world is dark and unhappy.
Through brief anecdotes, Monk Beopryun provides a time for deep reflection, allowing us to look into our lives so far and our present selves.
By following the monk's teachings, looking within ourselves and practicing being awake in the present moment, we can come to correctly recognize what a valuable life is.
Only when we realize what a futile life is and what we must do to live a worthwhile life can we begin to strive to light a fire for the world.
This book makes us realize that this is the teaching that the Buddha, the great Buddha, gave us long ago.

Into the book
“You shouldn’t live a life where you look back on your past life and regret that if you were born again, you would never live this life.
Also, if what I am doing now is something I would stop doing just because I got a fatal disease or a disaster struck and I would die soon, then I am not doing something worthwhile right now.
“If you can continue doing this work until the very end, even if you are told that you will die in a month, then it becomes worthwhile.”
“I am like a blade of grass growing by the roadside.
If you know you're nothing special, you won't get hurt.
“Life is miserable because I mistakenly believe I am special, and because of that, I end up not being special.”
“Mind study is not something that is generally done through the learning method called education.
You have to realize it yourself.
True freedom is only possible through enlightenment.
Performance is not an adaptation to the environment, but a kind of mutation, a revolution of consciousness.
Adapting to the environment means changing as the environment changes.
The changes in shape that adapt to the environment are not passed on to offspring.
However, a mutation refers to a change in the trait itself.
As you continue to practice, mutations will occur and you will reach a point where you no longer have to worry about polluting the world.”

Publisher's Review
Life up until now has been a practice.
From now on, a new life begins!
Monk Beopryun, who taught methods of self-transformation through 『Prayer』, a book widely known as the first book to be read and recommended by monks.
Now the monk talks about living faithfully in this moment.
Monk Beopryun says that if you are not happy at this moment, the first thing you should do is 'open your eyes'.
Now, instead of teaching about 'being awake' in abstract and philosophical terms, we teach in the language of concrete and vivid reality.
We must choose to live a life that is enjoyable in every moment and enjoyable in retrospect.
When I look back, when did I feel proud and satisfied? Was it when I cared for myself, or when I helped my family, friends, and others, even if it meant facing some challenges? Isn't it true that helping others actually brings even greater pride and satisfaction?
In the end, wouldn't that have been more beneficial to me?
Through brief anecdotes, Monk Beopryun provides a time for deep reflection, allowing us to look into our lives so far and our present selves.
By following the monk's teachings, looking within ourselves and practicing being awake in the present moment, we can come to correctly recognize what a valuable life is.
Only then do you realize what a vain life it is.
When you correctly recognize it, you can let go of the vain life you have lived and live a valuable, happy life.
This is why it is so important to ‘open my eyes’ here and now.
Only when we open our eyes and truly understand what is meaningless and what is worthwhile in life can we truly strive to light a fire for the world.
This book makes us realize that this is the teaching that the Buddha, the great Buddha, gave us long ago.
When everyone opens their eyes, the world becomes brighter.
“People say that monks don’t talk about the deep teachings of Buddha, but rather give life advice, just laugh and scold, but that’s not true.
If you continue to insist on something that goes against the principles, the monk will scold you.
Wake up.
Wake up and see things.
Happiness is always in me like the spring sunshine, but when I close my eyes or am in the shade, I cry out that the world is dark and cold.
“When you open your eyes, the world is bright for everyone.” _Monk Beopryun
