A story of happiness heard through the excellent preacher Martin Lloyd Jones.
Happiness, the most important question in life
No one lives dreaming of unhappiness.
All humans live dreaming of a happy life.
The ultimate goal of human beings is happiness.
However, happiness is not only defined differently for each person, but is also something that cannot be grasped, but is visible.
That is why we always live longing for happiness.
Sometimes we dream of a happy life, but we become frustrated and disappointed.
Life is so full of times when we live a life that is different from what we thought.
That doesn't mean you have to give up on a happy life.
Because God, the creator of all things in the universe and the owner of blessings, spoke about happiness.
The answer is found in Psalm 1, which begins with the phrase, “Blessed is the man…”
Psalm 1 clearly contains what true happiness is.
If you are looking for happiness, there is no need to hesitate any longer.
Read the Psalms.
And let's listen to the story of Psalm 1 explained by Martin Lloyd-Jones, one of the greatest expository preachers of the 20th century.
We will surely discover the path to 'happiness', the most important issue in our lives.

People who pursue happiness
What everyone in this world pursues is the same as in the past.
Do you know what people in the time of the poet of Psalm 1 were seeking? It was "happiness."
“Blessed is this person.” That’s right! “Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.” Blessed is he, that is, happy.
They were looking for happiness, and the poet knew it.
Because the poet was also looking for happiness.
Happiness remains a fundamental need for people today.
We are not the first people in human history to want to be happy.
Humanity has always pursued happiness.
The entire story of life, history, and civilization is a process of great pursuit of happiness.
No one wants to be miserable, no one wants to be unhappy.
Everyone pursues joy, happiness and pleasure.
That is, the human condition is exactly the same, there is nothing new about it.
You say, “But look at the world,” but the world has always been like this.
The world was a place of war and jealousy, envy, malice, resentment and disappointment.
It's always been like that.
The form may be different, but the essence itself does not change at all.
In the past, cannons were scary, but today, bombs are scary.
Only the form has changed.
The essential conditions of this world, the precarious state of life in this world, are not new.
There is nothing new under the sun.
So we don't need to leave this old teaching.
Because we are facing the same problem.
But there is a more important reason why I am telling you to pay attention to Psalm 1.
Because this is “God's teaching.”
All other books are human teachings.
I know that philosophers have explored the question of happiness.
Among them are those who wrote about utopia.
The essence of philosophy was the pursuit of happiness, the pursuit of blessings.
But as you know, all that philosophy has gone down the drain.
But we have God's prescription for happiness.
God's prescription! So I return to the Bible.
The Secret to Happiness
So far I have been talking about negative facts.
Let me briefly introduce some positive facts.
This is simply the theory I introduced in the introduction put into practice.
The secret of happiness is to “delight in the law of the Lord.”
It is not the cleverness of philosophers or the speculations of so-called thinkers, nor the schemes and thoughts of the ungodly, but it is the delight in the law of the Lord, that is, the Bible, the government of God, the Old and New Testaments, the Law and the Gospel.
Everything I need is in here.
God's path to happiness is fully laid out before me.
As you can see, the blessed people delight in the law.
They have more than just an intellectual interest in the law.
We do not read the law only because we are afraid of not following it and of the consequences of sin.
They are not simply pragmatists who look into the law expecting it to be useful.
“Honesty is the best policy.
I want to be successful.
So I don't do certain things." This is not their attitude.
They delight in the law of the Lord.
I get great pleasure from knowing that.
They say, “Isn’t this cool?”
“Meditate on the law day and night.”
They say the reason is this:
“There is nothing like this.
Everything else is vain, nonsense, and will-o'-the-wisps.
This is God's truth, God's wisdom! How wonderful! The law works.
The law gives me what I want.” They delight in the law.
These are happy men and happy women.
Let me put it in the psalmist's way:
There are some regrets about the Korean translation.
It says, “Blessed is the man who …” but what the psalmist wrote was this:
"Oh, how blessed this man is!" Why did the psalmist write this? He did so to reveal the fullness, variety, and breadth of blessing.
“I can’t describe it all.
Oh, blessedness.
… … How wonderful!”

Publisher's Review
“God is you
“I hope you are happy.”
“Blessed are those who…”
Life is always a choice.
There is no way to live without choosing.
But in that choice, there is no middle ground.
It is either God's way or Satan's way.
A blessed person has no hesitation in making this choice.
Because the blessed person already knows the answer.
If you're unsure which path to choose right now, that's okay! Our kind God has explained the choices in detail.
Read the Bible.
Read the Bible! This is the most important choice.
A book has been published to help those who wish to become blessed and enjoy true blessings.
Jesus is the water of life, so let us drink it.
Let it well up in my heart like a spring.
Charles Wesley
A man planted by a spring that never runs dry
This book consists of four chapters.
All four chapters are direct translations of the author's sermons.
It is friendly because it uses colloquial language, and each chapter is a detailed explanation of the words of Psalm 1.
The author says that the reason we live a life filled with anxiety, nervousness, insomnia, worry, concern, and competition is because we consider ourselves the masters of our own lives.
Now we must put aside those foolish thoughts and acknowledge that God is the master of our lives.
At that time, you can be free from the forced responsibility for your own life.
The author says that the words of Psalm 1 are the unifying theme of the entire Bible.
If we believe in God and follow the blessings of Psalm 1, our lives, like dry firewood, will always be abundant and fruitful, like a life planted next to a spring that never dries up.
If life is too tough and you feel desperate, it's not too late.
