"Hidden Space - 127 Market-Commercial Apartments in Korea" is the second story in the "Old Apartment" series by author Lim Ji-eun, who wrote "Mansion - My Beloved Old Apartment in Seoul" in 2023. In his previous work, 『Mansion』, the author introduced old mansions and townhouses built in Seoul in the 60s and 70s. In this book, he tells the story of old apartments built in traditional markets across the country in the 70s and 80s. From famous shopping malls like Nakwon Arcade in Seoul to traditional markets in small cities across the country, such as Boryeong, Yeongwol, Tongyeong, and Samcheonpo. This book, compiled after visiting 127 existing market apartments across the country, is the author's subjective travelogue and an archive that captures the entirety of these 127 market apartments.
