Book Introduction
The revised contents of the 4th edition are briefly introduced according to the table of contents of the book.
First, in ‘Chapter 1 Understanding Evaluation’, ‘Official Evaluation and Informal Evaluation’ was added as [Supplementary Explanation 1-2] to supplement the content on formal and informal evaluation.
Second, in 'Chapter 2 Basic Concepts of Measurement', 'Growth-referenced assessment and ability-referenced assessment' were added as [Supplementary Explanation 2-3] to supplement the contents on norm-referenced assessment and criterion-referenced assessment, and in relation to index scores, 'Example of index score calculation' was presented in [Supplementary Explanation 2-5], and 〈Figure 2-10〉 was added to help understand the relationship between validity and reliability, and 'Objectivity and Practicality' were added to the text to explain in addition to validity and reliability.
Third, in ‘Chapter 4 Observation’, the types of observation were added, the types and types of recording methods were modified, and intra-observer reliability was additionally explained in comparison with inter-observer reliability.
Fourth, in ‘Chapter 5 Interview’, the interview types have been revised and supplemented.
Fifth, in ‘Chapter 7 Performance Assessment’, ‘process-centered evaluation’ introduced in Korean schools along with the revised 2015 curriculum is briefly introduced in [Supplementary Explanation 7-2].
Sixth, in ‘Part 3 Assessment Tools’, the titles of ‘Chapter 13 Perception and Movement’ and ‘Chapter 14 Adaptive Behavior’ were revised to ‘Chapter 13 Sensory/Perception and Movement’ and ‘Chapter 14 Adaptive Behavior and Support Needs’, respectively, and assessment tools were deleted or added in all chapters (Chapters 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17) except for ‘Chapter 16 Special Area I: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder’, resulting in a total of 78 assessment tools introduced, which is an increase of 2 from the 3rd edition.
Seventh, the glossary of terms has revised the definitions of existing terms (e.g., formal circumstances, informal circumstances, etc.) where necessary, and also provided definitions for terms added in the 4th edition (e.g., formal evaluation, informal evaluation, etc.).
Eighth, I checked the notes I had made while looking at the third edition to see if there were any areas that needed correction or supplementation, and tried to reflect them as much as possible.
