Into the book
Yes, that's right.
I came to study abroad in a rural area at the foot of Jirisan Mountain.
I thought I would come here because I fell in love with Plum Village, but I ended up coming to a school near Sansuyu Village.
Between my mom and dad, who were bickering, that was the conclusion I came to because I said I was going to study abroad in the countryside where my friends were.
It's not that I didn't have any worries.
I was sad to part ways with my friends in Seoul, and I was also worried about my studies.
I also hated that there were no PC rooms or convenience stores.
Nevertheless, my curiosity about the new life was greater.
--- p.12
If my mom was out of the country for a month, would I be upset about not being able to see her? I thought I would be the same.
So, to lighten the mood, I tried talking to Lele.
“But you’re still good.
You must be able to speak at least two languages.
“Korean and Nigerian.”
“Don’t talk nonsense.
“Nigeria’s official language is English.”
Oh my! And yet, Rele can't speak English! Perhaps the words I offered to help Rele out ended up being a nuisance? I had to keep my mouth shut, worried that I might have made another mistake.
--- p.106~107
I had a horseback riding lesson today.
Even though it was only my second class, I was still nervous about how big the horse was.
I was really tired during the first lesson and got scolded by the riding instructor, but today I did a little better than before.
One, two! One, two! I walked slowly to the command, and it felt good because I felt like we were one.

Publisher's Review
Have you heard of the term “farm, mountain, and fishing village study abroad”?
A rural, mountain, and fishing village study abroad program promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Jeonnam Office of Education under a business agreement starting in December 2020.
With the support of this program, Ryeohan goes to study abroad in Sansuyu Village at the foot of Jirisan Mountain. She experiences a new school life, new friends, new neighbors, and animals.
The story of Ryeohan growing a lot in just one year of rural life and the events that take place in the small school and village are interesting.

The surprising things that Ryeohan experiences while studying abroad in a rural village at the foot of Jirisan Mountain.
This isn't the countryside I thought it would be!
I often think about how wonderful it would be if children could experience rural study abroad, where they could get close to nature, when they were young.
I might worry that I'm the only one falling behind, but when I look back on my long life, isn't the six months or year of elementary school a very short time? While it's great to meet a wide variety of children at an urban school, I think forging deep relationships in a small group setting would be a unique experience.
Also, because you have many different experiences, you can enjoy many small successes within them.
