Description
Book Introduction
We need to start now for future generations!

Earth is the only planet where humans, plants and animals live together.
We all know now that the Earth is sick and suffering from various problems, including climate change.
The challenges facing the Earth and humanity are overwhelming, ranging from climate change to hunger, inequality, water shortages, and the destruction of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

We must somehow overcome the difficulties facing the Earth.
And to overcome this difficulty, there is something we must not forget.
It's not just one person or one country, it's everyone in the world who needs to come together and act, and it needs to start now.

This book tells the stories of people around the globe who have put their innovative ideas into action to protect the planet and create a fairer world, with future generations in mind.
In Africa, the United States, Northern Europe, Australia, and our own country, these are valuable examples of people not waiting until tomorrow, but finding something they can do and taking action.
Among these stories, there are examples of small ideas discovered in everyday life that were developed into environmental protection, and examples of people not just turning a blind eye to sick animals but stepping up to protect those starving to death.

The title of this book, “The Ugly Vegetable Chromecomer,” is also one of the 18 stories included in the book.
Kromkommer means 'twisted cucumber' in Dutch.
The story begins in 2012 when two ordinary Dutch students, Jenter and Lisane, came up with an idea to prevent ugly fruits and vegetables from being thrown away.
If each and every person reading this book creates a story through small actions, the Earth will soon be filled with powerful stories.

Publisher's Review
The SDG Story: Strengthening Our Sick Planet

The Earth is a very small star in the vast space of space.
The Earth has soil and water, and a membrane of air surrounds the Earth, allowing us to breathe.
That's why we can easily see life on the Earth we live on.
Our beautiful planet Earth has enough of everything it needs to sustain life.
But we also have a serious problem.

The first is the problem of environmental pollution and climate change.
The energy we use to make our lives more comfortable pollutes the atmosphere, and the process of creating and discarding things pollutes water and turns the land into desert.
These influences come together to change the climate of our planet and affect the entire ecosystem.

The second is inequality.
Some people have much more than they need, but most people have much less than they need.
While on one side of the globe, people use electricity to easily cook food, on the other side, millions of people spend hours gathering firewood and toiling to make food.
It is we who created this problem.
So we can fix it.

The United Nations (UN) is an organization that puts a lot of effort into maintaining world peace and promoting international cooperation.
Here, we announced 17 goals (SDGs) essential for sustainable development.
This goal is to protect the Earth from pollution and climate change, and to create a world where everyone is safe, happy, and fair.
We must achieve this goal by 2030.

This book contains examples of people around the world who are working towards and putting into practice the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These are stories of people striving to achieve various sustainable development goals, such as choosing a frog habitat instead of an Olympic stadium, feeding hungry eagles, coming up with ideas to collect floating trash in the ocean, not throwing away straws without reason, and using ugly vegetables as good ideas.

We must care for the planet and share what we create in a fair and sustainable way.
