"When the Library Door Opens" is a story that comforts and encourages children going through growing pains as they go through their third year of middle school.
Even when you feel like you have nowhere to go and no one around, the library doors are wide open.

Growing children absolutely need time to figure out who they are.
Once you realize what you like and dislike, and how to communicate and reconcile with others, you will find yourself noticeably changed.
We offer words of courage and encouragement to countless young people in this world who are suffering from growing pains and preparing to be reborn, like Eunsol, Subin, and Dan-ah.

Into the book
In the picture frame, an old woman with white hair and a long skirt was sitting on a chair knitting.
Eunsol stood in front of the work for a long time.
'Grandma is a detective too.
My friends used to call me a rumor detective.
A cool detective chasing rumors! But now my friends hate me.
Call me a gossiping amoeba.'
What kind of person is Grandma, from what book, that even a gossipy, gossipy woman is so beloved? Eunsol suddenly became curious about Miss Marple.
---"The Amoeba That Spreads Rumors" p.31
Soobin recalled the things her father used to say when he complained about the restaurant not doing well, and analyzed the reason why there were few people in the library.
I straightened up a little from where I had been lying in the bean bag and looked around the library.
‘If no one comes to the library… … will these books continue to wait for customers?’ That’s so sad.
A thought suddenly occurred to me.
The bookshelf filled with books overlapped with the image of herself sitting there blankly on her elementary school graduation day, waiting for her friends to talk to her.
No, if a lot of people come, this place won't be my own resting place.
Soobin shook his head vigorously.
I guess books don't like being alone either.
But that thought wasn't easily erased.
---"I Need a Place to Be Alone" p.57-58
The culprit is after the ghost book! This is another reason to keep the operation a secret from the librarian.
The librarian is unaware of the existence of the ghost bookmark.
Adults shouldn't know that.
Of course I really like the librarian, but that's the law of ghost stories.
The moment adults learn of our own ghost stories, the rumors lose their power and become mere puns.
So we devised a plan.
We decided to place a ghost bookmark in just one book, and have four library members take turns watching it during breaks.
As you walk around the library, look for anyone acting suspiciously, anyone who seems intent on finding a bookmark instead of choosing a book, or anyone with a knife or scissors in their pocket or hand.
After gathering solid evidence, you can keep the ghost bookmark a secret and subtly mention the culprit's identity to the librarian.
So this diary is also our own secret diary.
I decided to hide this notebook under a cushion in the library, because if I put it on the shelf, the librarian might find out.
Just ten days left until summer vacation begins.
We're going to catch the villain.
The library doors should never be closed!

“I hope many children will come to the library.”
Children who love the library
A new semester begins at Dundun Middle School, and a library is built.
The location was on the 3rd floor of the gymnasium, a space that no one paid attention to and was used as a warehouse.
The library is open and the librarian works hard to run it, but children rarely go to the library.
One day, Eunsol, a talkative girl who makes a slip of the tongue and is ostracized in class, goes to the library to find a place to be alone.
Eunsol talks to her librarian at the library and takes up a new hobby, realizing her mistakes and learning how to avoid hurting others with her words and gossip.
And I spread the word in the hope that more people will come to the library.
It is said that if you find the book hidden by the ghost, your wish will come true.
The Amoeba That Spreads Rumors
As rumors of a ghost book spread, Soobin visits the library.
Subin was originally a quiet person, but when he entered middle school, he started to act lively to please his friends.
Soobin, who was feeling increasingly burdened by continuing to act, came to the library to find a place to be alone and read the novel "Momo."
Through Momo, Soobin learns how to get along with other friends while also not hiding who she is.
I Need a Place to Be Alone
Meanwhile, Dan-ah, who envies her friend A-young and blindly follows her, comes to the library after fighting with A-young.
Dan-ah is talented at drawing cartoons, but she lacks confidence because she remembers being laughed at for being childish.
Dan-ah gradually gains confidence as she meets various people at the library, including a cool senior who hides his love of comics after being told that he is childish like Dan-ah, a librarian who reads storybooks that are not appropriate for her age, and children in the library club who are amazed by Dan-ah's drawing skills.
〈The Me You Want to Be〉 The children who have changed in this way at the library are carefully tending the library with a loving heart.
But then a villain appears in the library.
Someone started marking the book cover with an X.
If we don't catch the villain, we may have to close the library.
The library-loving kids decide to catch the villain themselves… … .
Can the library be saved? "The Secret of X"
Teenagers who grow up shaken and hurt
A story of strong support and protection
During their three years of middle school, children experience many changes and confusions.
They still don't know much about themselves and are awkward at dealing with others, so they get hurt and make mistakes.
It is a natural process of growth, but it is also very difficult for the person involved.
