Miracle Learning Mental Class
Description
Book Introduction
“Why is it that no matter how hard I work, my grades remain the same and my mind feels tired?”
For 18 years, Dr. Hyun Yong-chan has helped countless students overcome frustration.
The hot topic of learning coaching that helped me move towards my bright dreams.
From the desire to do something to the power to finally accomplish it!
Many teenagers wonder, "Why do my grades remain the same even though I work hard, and my mind feels tired?" and fall into a state of apathy.
The real cause of these problems lies not in study techniques like memorization or time management, but in the mindset with which you approach learning, that is, your learning mentality.
Dr. Hyun Yong-chan sees through this and, based on his extensive counseling experience and research, provides a systematic learning solution of 'self-understanding → mental strengthening → skill application' to teenagers who are unable to reach their potential due to psychological difficulties.
Beyond being a practical study guide, this book is an innovative guide that empowers young people to understand themselves and their innate talents and potential.

Into the book
I have met and counseled many young people in the educational field, and have spent a long time deeply thinking about and researching the 'learning' and 'mind' of our friends.
I'm going to tell you why our friends have a hard time studying and what makes them struggle.
A strong body and a steady mind are important for athletes, right? The same goes for us! There's something equally important in studying: a "learning mentality."
--- p.21-22
What does personality have to do with studying? It's a very deep connection.
Depending on your personality, you'll find different environments in which you can concentrate best when studying, different learning methods you find most enjoyable, and different reactions when faced with difficult problems.
Just as I need to wear clothes that fit me so I can move comfortably, I need to study in a way that suits my personality to be more efficient and feel at ease.
--- p.33
When parents and children have different personality types, the children tend to show more distracting, struggling, or single-minded behaviors.
Why is that? Perhaps my parents and I have such different ways of thinking that we constantly clash and feel misunderstood, which leads to a complex and anxious state of mind (a type of wandering mind).
They may feel upset or have a hard time because things don't go their way (struggling type), or they may think, "Oh, my parents will never understand what I'm thinking."
It could have been that he appeared as a single-minded person, insisting on his own thoughts, saying, “I’ll just do it my way.”
--- p.47
Many of my friends skim through books or handwritten notes when they review.
'I've seen it once, so that's enough!' he said.
But this is just a review that keeps our eyes busy, not a review that uses our brain to store information for a long time.
There are ways to make sure your brain actually remembers information and to make those memories last longer.
It's called "Retrieval Practice"! Retrieval practice refers to the practice of "pulling out" information stored in your head.
Memories become much stronger when the brain practices searching and retrieving information.
--- p.172-173
According to the forgetting curve, we forget about 40% of what we learn just 20 minutes after learning it, and more than 70% after a day.
Reviewing is the surest way to overcome this dreaded forgetting curve and retrieve what you've learned from short-term memory into long-term memory.
By taking out what you've studied and using it again, you remind your brain, 'This information is important.'
It sends a signal saying, 'Don't erase it.'
So, let's learn some effective review techniques one by one that will make what I know more certain and allow me to use it right away during exams.
--- p.182
Understanding yourself, a learning mindset, study skills, and the power of relationships! When all these treasures come together in harmony, we can develop a strong learning mindset that will not waver in the face of any difficulty.
But, if you just keep these precious treasures in your head, they might fade or be forgotten over time. It's important to keep them organized so you don't forget them and can access them whenever you need them. In this chapter, we'll create a "My Treasure Map Notebook" that integrates your entire study journey and organizes your own study management tips so you can see them at a glance.

The Importance of a 'Strong Learning Mentality'
Many students are fixated on the technical question of 'how to study'.
But the real cause that hinders studying is not the head, but the heart, that is, the learning mentality.
Instead of giving a cold, dismissive look at youth struggling with learning difficulties as lacking willpower, the author of this book focuses on the instability in their learning mentality.
We help students courageously face and analyze the 'problem' of studying difficulties and find their own 'answers'.
If the problem definition (Chapters 1-3 of this book) is to know myself and the shadows in my heart and to develop a strong learning mentality, then the process of finding the answer is to find the study skills and social support that are right for me (Chapters 4-5 of this book) and create my own “treasure map” (Chapter 6 of this book).
3-Step Systematic Learning Solution
: Know yourself, strengthen your mentality, and apply your skills.
It begins with a journey that guides students to discover their true motivation for learning, and through the following three-step process, it builds a strong learning mindset and presents specific strategies.
Step 1: ‘Self-understanding’ - Studying begins with knowing yourself well.
Helping students embark on a journey to find their true 'self'.
Identify your personality type and examine your own mental filters through which you view the world and your studies.
It also provides the strongest motivation to keep moving forward towards my studies through the process of finding my dreams and goals.
Through this process, students go beyond simple study methods to find ways to understand their own identity and design their future.
Step 2: 'Mental Strengthening' - Guides you on how to face and overcome the inner shadows that interfere with your studies.
It identifies learning anxiety (test/presentation anxiety, academic failure anxiety, etc.), lack of motivation (not knowing why you should study), lack of self-esteem (feeling useless), perfectionism (feeling pressure that mistakes will cause big trouble), procrastination (the habit of putting off work until tomorrow), and distraction (having other thoughts, etc.) and suggests practical and specific ways to deal with them.
Step 3: Applying the Skills - Learn the study skills that work for you and how to utilize the 'power of relationships'.
We introduce practical techniques such as time management (identifying daily patterns, utilizing to-do lists, reducing time-wasters), techniques to increase comprehension (actively reading and listening, organizing in your own words, visualization, etc.), magic to increase memory (interval review to beat the forgetting curve, retrieval practice, etc.), effective review techniques (using error notes, golden cycle of preview → class → review → question, etc.), and how to perform well on exams.
It also shows that studying is not a lonely battle that you have to fight alone, and that positive relationships with parents, friends, and teachers have a synergistic effect on your learning mentality.
And it suggests ways to gain strength and grow together in a ‘relationship.’
My own study management secret
: Create your own treasure map notebook
"My Treasure Map Note" is a collection of notes that integrates all your study journeys (a 3-step systematic learning solution) and organizes your own study management secrets so you can see them all at a glance.
The most important thing Dr. Hyun Yong-chan learned from counseling many students was the power to apply and record what he learned in his own life.
So, I worked with my students on a project to create my own study mental secret notebook, and the final product of that know-how is 'My Own Treasure Map Notebook.'
'My Treasure Map Notebook' is a notebook where students record their dreams, goals, tendencies, and study techniques that are right for them.
This notebook serves as a compass that you can turn to whenever you feel down on your long and arduous study journey and gain strength.
