Large political units and trade networks

This book aims to trace the emergence of "mega-political units" and "trade networks" around the world, and to examine various issues related to this process.
The time range is from the end of the classical era, that is, the subsequent period created beyond the limits of the classical era.
The process of establishment and expansion of nations and empires around the world will be discussed, as will the economic, political, social, cultural, and intellectual developments that accompanied them.
This process will be examined in three dimensions, each of which is interrelated and intertwined.

Macroscopic view and detailed cases

First, in Volume 7 of the Korean edition, we will comprehensively examine the development of the economy, politics, society, culture, and intellect, the core topics of our discussion, on a global scale.
The time period is from 1200 BC to 900 AD.
Next, in Volume 8 of the Korean version, discussions are conducted at the regional level.
That is, within the time frame we wish to discuss, we will divide the world into four regions: Afro-Eurasia, the Americas, Australasia, and Oceania, and focus on the aspects that clearly reveal the development of political and cultural groups in each region.
We will then present the results of individual case studies to supplement the comprehensive discussion at the regional level.
By examining the cases "closely and in detail," we can reaffirm the developmental processes and patterns examined in the global and regional discussions. (From the editor's preface)
