Publisher's Review
"Three Generations of Railroad Workers" evokes Incheon and Yeongdeungpo as historical sites, focusing on the railroad, a symbol of modernity.
By following the characters' footsteps, we can project our future onto the trajectories of the past and present.
The book consists of three parts and an appendix.
Part 1 is filled with field trip courses with maps.
Based on the Gyeongin Railroad, Incheon's locations were divided into Courses 1 and 2.
Here, I added the Seoul tour course and the Gyeongui Line course from Seoul to Sinuiju, which is currently unavailable.
In the middle of the field trip, we also included ‘Poems about Trains’ (7 poems by Kim Ki-rim, Park Hyeong-jun, Kim Jeong-hwan, Baek Mu-san, etc.).
Part 2 includes two articles written from a literary and mythological perspective on the Three Generations of Railroad Workers.

In particular, Part 3 of this book includes a conversation between novelist Hwang Seok-young and literary critic Choi Won-sik.
You can hear the author's voice about the creative background and thoughts of "Three Generations of Railroad Workers."
The author defines this work as a 'world of folkloric realism' and leads readers into a broad world.
The work “Three Generations of Railroad Workers” is the result of a synthesis of “using folk tales as a folk memory method and a vessel for novels.”
He also reveals his passion for planning three follow-up works in line with this trend.
The appendix includes a genealogy of three generations of railroad workers to help understand the content, and includes sentences related to customs and customs selected from the work.
Let's first read Hwang Seok-yeong's "Three Generations of Railroad Workers," and then, while reading this book, take a walk around Incheon, focusing on the Gyeongin Line, Korea's first railroad.
