Wow, it's snowing!
Wow, it's snowing!
Description
Book Introduction
“A snowball fight? No, let’s make ice cream balls.”
A fun combination of play and cooking

Winter has come.
There are friends who wait for snowy days more than anyone else.
When it snows, you can make snowmen, have snowball fights, go sledding, and do other fun things with the snow, but the reason the mice in "Wow, It's Snowing!" are waiting for the snow is a little different.
As we watch the mouse rolling its eyes as it climbs the hill, we anticipate.
'I'm going to make a snowman,' he said.
But when you turn to the next page, you're making ice cream, not a snowman.
You can also make a tree by stacking ice cream cones.

If you turn the next page, you can meet mice with round, round eyes.
Some of them even throw snow like they're having a snowball fight.
But I don't think it's just a simple snowball fight.
On one side, two mice are sprinkling red, blue, and yellow pigments on a snowball to create pretty colors.
As you turn the next page, wondering what the mice are doing, you find a bowl full of ice cream balls.

In "Wow, It's Snow!", mice appear making food as if they were playing.
I thought we were having a snowball fight, but we ended up making bead ice cream. I thought we were building an ice house, but we ended up making patbingsu, and we made various foods while playing in the snow.
This book offers readers another activity to do on a snowy day.
It's snow cuisine! Ice cream, ice cream balls, patbingsu, cake... What other dishes can you make?

Publisher's Review
“Now let’s call our friends!”
A new perspective on snowmen

The mice, having finished making a cool and fresh strawberry cake, decide to call their friends.
Who did the mice prepare these dishes for?

Kim Li-ra, the author of "Wow, It's Snowing!", saw a snowman standing in front of her house one night when it had snowed heavily.
They say that the snowman looked lonely that day.
It was a stark contrast to the daytime, when children's laughter filled the air.
And I wanted to celebrate the birthday of the snowman who was born today.
I came up with this picture book while imagining a time when everyone was asleep, when some beings smaller than a snowman would come together to prepare a party and celebrate a birthday.

This book beautifully depicts a mouse welcoming a precious friend he can only meet on special days.
Through the mouse interacting with the snowman, we come to think that even just living one day is something to be celebrated and blessed.

If you look at each character carefully,
The charm of picture books that reveal new stories

The twelve mice in this book may look similar, but they each have their own unique personalities and personalities.
Even though they are all the same gray, they are all wearing different clothes, such as short sleeves, shorts, overalls, and stripes.
Also, each person brings a different prop to greet the snow.
Some friends have gloves, earmuffs, buckets, shovels, sleds and boards, skates, acorn tops, and even a slingshot.

In addition to the main story of preparing food and celebrating a snowman's birthday, following each mouse individually creates another story.
For example, let's just follow the smart-looking mouse wearing red glasses. The glasses-wearing mouse, who starts preparing by raising his hand in the front, diligently rolls a snowball the size of himself to make ice cream.
When transporting bead ice cream, he is also pulling hard at the front.
Even when making snow bricks, I work diligently without taking my eyes off them.
If you keep chasing the glasses mouse like that, you can see how honest and diligent this guy is.
It seems like he's the leader of this party.

In this way, twelve mice, including the slingshot mouse, the red hat mouse, and the earmuff mouse, each take on different roles according to their personalities and successfully lead the party.
Even the mouse, who seemed to be doing something else while his friends were working, was preparing something to brighten up the party.

Isn't this what true cooperation looks like? Each person doing their part without being told to do so.
Even if it seems like they're playing alone, it means trusting and entrusting each other without saying anything.
Not only mice, but also birds, fireflies, and even cats all have their own roles in the book, so don't miss out and look closely at the illustrations to enrich the story.
