Into the book
At the time, the decisive factor that led me into the world of online selling was a YouTube video of Shin Saimdang (now Joo Eon-gyu) that I happened to come across.
That YouTube video was the first thing I learned about consignment selling.
Until now, when I thought of 'business', I only thought of things like offline stores that required a lot of initial capital, but through that YouTube video, I was introduced to another world called online entrepreneurship.
In particular, the 'Smart Store Consignment Sales' method meant I didn't have to store inventory myself.
Since the wholesaler ships the product right away when a customer order comes in, I thought I could do it while taking care of my baby at home.

The phrase “the best time to make money since Dangun” that appeared in the video particularly resonated with me.
The message that anyone can make money if they work hard gave me courage and hope while I was on parental leave at the time.

I wanted to make money.
No, I wanted to make a lot of money.
--- From "Smart Store, the Beginning of Online Entrepreneurship"

From then on, we decided to sell the batteries together.
At first, we purchased batteries from a wholesaler for 22,000 won and sold them for 30,000 won.
Then, after searching through Google and wholesale sites, I found a place that was offering batteries with the same specifications for 8,200 won, and I was able to get the unit price adjusted down to 6,600 won with the condition of bulk purchase of 100 or more.

As I started selling batteries, I realized one important thing.
Even if parts that sell less than the best-selling main products have high margins, they make the profit structure stronger.
The main body of the children's scooter had a high order volume but low margin, while the battery, a component, had a low sales volume but high margin, making it a true 'profitable product'.
--- From "The Limits of Consignment Sales and the Niche Market Discovered"

The difference between Rocket Delivery and Rocket Growth lies in ‘product ownership’ and ‘sales structure.’
With Rocket Delivery, Coupang purchases products and sells them on its own, while with Rocket Growth, Coupang stores products owned by sellers and only delivers them.
Both Rocket Delivery and Rocket Growth offer fast delivery, but their entry methods, terms, and cost structures differ, so it's important to choose the one that best suits your situation.

One of Coupang's drawbacks is its slow settlement cycle.
Settlement methods are divided into 'weekly settlement' and 'monthly settlement', but in reality, it is comfortable to assume that it takes an average of two months until the final deposit regardless of the method.

That's why, among Coupang sellers, there's a lot of talk about "cash flow being blocked."
As sales increase, the inventory that needs to be filled in the logistics center also increases, making Coupang's slow settlement speed a cause of cash flow difficulties.
--- From "Coupang, a platform that enables fast and large-scale inflow"

I sourced the products myself, visited Chinese manufacturing plants myself, and even figured out the KC certification process and methods myself.
It took about two months to receive the first KC certification for children, and a full six months to import cosmetics for the first time.

I don't know how many times I wanted to give up.
But looking back now, all that time was a process of creating 'my own weapon'.
Although the order was a bit off, I achieved the goal I set when I started selling, which was to 'make a net profit of 10 million won per month + quit my job', in about a year.
And around the time I reached 10 million won in net profit per month, money really started to come in.

Until then, the margin ratio had increased compared to before due to the purchase of goods, KC certification costs, trademark registration, etc., but the investment costs were also considerable.
If it was a situation where it seemed like you were earning money but you weren't, things are different now.
Net profit compared to sales was stable, and I could see the money accumulating in my bank account.
I also started to feel like I wanted to live a little more leisurely and spend money.
--- From "Achieving Net Profit in Months"

I finally signed the contract for the office I've been dreaming of.
We signed a contract starting in November 2024, received a one-month rent-free period, and began preparing to move into the office in October.
Installed air conditioners, erected racks, and installed partition walls.
As each space was filled, a new resolution grew in my heart.
I will continue to grow my business here, leverage what I've been doing, and take it to the next level.
I was serious about finding an office and my future plans.

But all those plans fell apart in just one day.
After returning from a two-day, one-night trip to celebrate my child's birthday, I opened my mailbox without thinking and found an email with an unfamiliar subject line.
The sender was 'Coupang'.
“Your account has been permanently suspended due to intellectual property infringement, and all products will be unavailable for sale.”
For a moment, I doubted my eyes.
When did I ever infringe on intellectual property rights?
And when have you ever received an email asking you to 'call'?
