Publisher's Review
“Where can I find a book that is perfect for reading aloud?”
『Reading Aesop's Fables』 was born from the thoughts of Korea's best English experts, Saebyeokdal X Lee Hyeon-seok.
The best study method that will change the paradigm of English learning - reading!
But, aren't there many books that are suitable for reading aloud?
Reading aloud is considered one of the most effective study methods by many experts and educational studies.
It is known to be particularly effective in practicing pronunciation, improving fluency, and increasing listening skills.
Teacher Saebyukdal and Teacher Hyunseok Lee started the "Reading Challenge" in 2020 with the idea of "helping students put this great English study method, 'reading aloud,' into practice!" and, thanks to the explosive support of thousands of participants, it has now become an educational program called "Reading School."
However, while running the 'Reading School', there was a challenge we faced: 'What should we read?'
In particular, the biggest problem was that there were no easy books that beginners without English reading experience could read.
After reading and reviewing countless textbooks and English original books, I concluded, "Let's create a book optimized for reading aloud!"
That's how 『Reading Aesop's Fables』 was born.
Aesop's Fables, the greatest classic in human history, reborn for recitation!
The fables of Aesop, an ancient Greek storyteller said to have lived between 620 and 564 BC, contain messages of wisdom and insight in simple stories, and have been translated into numerous languages around the world, and are still loved by many people across generations.
A concise yet profound story – this was also the perfect condition for reading aloud!
So, first of all, I have selected the most widely known fables from Aesop's Fables.
And I rewrote it to optimize reading, with a length of '150 words per fable, 9-10 words per sentence'.
The English level has been standardized so that even a beginner at the level of a native speaker of 11 years old can read easily and enjoyably, and this was based on the Flesch Reading Ease Scores, the most widely used scientific measurement in the world.
This rewritten fable has been enriched with teaching devices that make reading it even more enjoyable!
-Key words: You can review and learn the key words of the fable before and after reading.
-Reading Training: Provides stress and chunking guides from teacher Lee Hyeon-seok to help you read more fluently.
-Korean Translation: Translation is provided so you can check the content by comparing it with the English version, and it can also be used for reading aloud in Korean.
- Topic Discussion: Questions are provided for discussion based on the lessons of Aesop's Fables.
This will be the best post-reading activity to improve your literacy skills!
The miraculous changes that reading English brings are now your turn!
English experts unanimously recommend 'Reading', and 'Reading Aesop's Fables' created by Korea's top experts for reading.
