About Fragrance - Han Seo-hyung

“I’m going to rise again as a green blade of grass.”
A collection of fragrant poetry that provides comfort and courage to the weary through poetry therapy.

There have been many attempts at collaboration between poetry and painting or photography, or poetry and music (sound), but it is rare to see such collaboration between poetry and fragrance.
Poet Na Tae-ju, who has been gifting readers with beautiful poetry for over 50 years, has carefully selected poems that offer comfort and courage for this collection of fragrant poems.
Here, Korea's first fragrance artist, Han Seo-hyung, created a fragrance that brings hope to some and comforts others by patting them on the back.


This book contains bergamot, which gives peace of mind, galbanum, which has the power to heal with the scent of fresh grass and leaves, basil, which relieves anxiety with its sweet and spicy scent, eucalyptus radiata, which helps to have a positive mindset, cedarwood virginia, which gives courage to believe in yourself and move forward, rose geranium and lavandin grosso, which gently soothe the mind, angelica root, which helps you move forward with your beliefs with its attractive earthy scent, and Peruvian balsam, which is soft like sweet vanilla.
This is a scent that provides comfort, rest, and courage to readers who are tired from the long-term COVID-19 pandemic.

“Dreaming and wishing that you would bloom like a flower”

This collection of poems contains over 200 poems, including the poet's representative work, "Wildflowers 1," which begins with the line, "It's beautiful when you look closely," and works that deal with the theme of fragrance.


In Part 1, “Becoming a Person Who Smiles Even When Alone,” the poet finds happiness in the little things in everyday life, saying, “Happiness is having someone to think of when times are tough/having a song to sing alone when you’re lonely,” and “It’s good to do what you want to do/It’s even better to not do what you don’t want to do” (“Good Day”).


In Part 2, 'There are people who are not in the world but are in my heart', I sing about the people who comfort me.
It is 'a picture or music/sometimes love/that doesn't exist in the world/but exists in the heart' (〈Some〉), and it is also a walk with a good person, like 'I like the scent of flowers and the scent of grass/I ended up coming far away' (〈Walk〉), and sometimes 'a spring night/that makes my heart flutter even without you'.


In Part 3, “There is no flower that blooms on its own,” the song sings of hope that makes one dream of tomorrow, saying, “I hope and dream that you will bloom as a flower” (“Spring Days”) and “Isn’t that why spring is even more of a miracle?” (“New Spring”).


In Part 4, “Make Flowers Bloom,” the poet offers warm comfort by saying, “I’m here by your side” (“Swaying Shoulders”), and then pats the shoulder by saying, “I’m going on a long journey again” (“Cornus”).
In the midst of the ever-changing milestones of life, the poet's affectionate voice, "Don't be discouraged and live/Let the flowers bloom" (〈Wild Flowers 3〉), comforts the lives of readers and gives them the strength to live again.

The poet, who does not really like perfumes that emit artificial scents, says that he did not buy any perfume even when he went to Paris, the home of perfume.


However, the fragrance created by perfumer Han Seo-hyung immediately captured the poet's heart.

Han Seo-hyung is a fragrance artist who creates new creations with natural scents.
We create fragrances that capture nature as it is, rather than fragrances that imitate nature.
He makes incense in the early morning, enjoying nature up close and personal in a village surrounded by pine forests, feeling the warmth of the rising sun, the scent of grass, flowers, leaves, and earth.
The fragrances he creates are full of his energy, so he only creates fragrances when he is happy.
He read poet Na Tae-ju's poetry every day and had conversations with the poet.
As a result, we created a fragrance that closely resembles poet Na Tae-ju and his poetry.
