Book Introduction
[Picnic Tribe] Kim Eun-young's first essay

From the thrilling travel story of [Picnic Tribe] that captivated 100,000 subscribers
From scenes of private travel to a captivating story that unravels emotions!

"I'm having fun today too" is a book written by Kim Eun-young, a timid traveler who calls herself a "confident coward," and tells the stories of her travels with her friend of ten years, Park Seo-woo, as well as the author's personal experiences and emotions from her travels, all told with her characteristically cheerful wit and honesty.
This is an honest record that shows the confusion we feel from unexpected situations we encounter while traveling, the complex emotions that arise during our alone time, and the changes that travel brings to our lives even after we return to our daily lives, beyond simple relaxation or fun, and how we grow little by little in the process.

These stories, which contain honest stories that couldn't be included in the video, as well as the Mongolian travelogue that anyone would want to watch over and over again once they see it, and even the unreleased episodes of the Russian travelogue, sometimes timid and clumsy, and sometimes brave and confident, will convey laughter and empathy, and even make the reader's heart feel refreshed and light.

Into the book
In India, to do something, you need to have the time and the mental capacity to accept that fact.
The knight began to advance again with difficulty, without much success.
I guided the way by tapping the shirt a few more times, avoiding the holey areas.
I finally arrived at the alley near the makeup room.
I was secretly annoyed while giving directions, but I was also sad that I had to get off.
I was about to hand over the 150 rupees I had prepared, adding 50 rupees in advance, when the driver made a cute expression and made a V sign with his hand.
“Two Hundred Rupees.”
I got hit, I got hit.
Even though I said I only had 150 rupees, the knight kept acting cute.
Yeah, if it looks cute, that's the end of it.
In the end, I gave the knight the 200 rupees he wanted, and Park Seo-woo and I discussed the appropriateness of the 200 rupees.
“The bicycle rickshaw was fun.”
“Yeah, it was really hot that day.”
The pattern of optimistic people has always been like this.
Even if it was an amount we didn't understand, we paid it first, and the understanding was quickly resolved when only the two of us were left.

--- From "Hello, My Preen"

There are many ways to scare people.
One of them is that the bravest people fall.
But now Park Seo-woo is terrified.
Among the four, the most courageous Park Seo-woo, Bin Yeon-ju, Jo Eun-hee, and even I, who had experience in Mongolia, collapsed due to Dori Dori.
Two steps back to take one step forward.
Let's just call it public urination.
Having learned the wisdom of the world from the proverb, "the darkness is under the lamp," I guided them to the bathroom right next to the room.

“I’ll eat first.”
For the women who are hesitating, I, an experienced Mongolian, have stepped forward.
Six eyes turned to me, a mixture of bewilderment and respect.
As I was fiddling with my waistband, the three of them all turned around.
The three of them, who seemed to be going somewhere, were just standing there.
I've only seen the military on TV shows, but is this what camaraderie is like?
After making sure that no more cars were coming or going at the end of the road, I crouched down behind the lush grass.
This too shall pass away.
It was the first and last time I felt a sense of relief in my life.

--- From "We Finally Put Everything Down"

Russia once again pressed me down at the immigration counter, separating Park Seo-woo and me.
I was the only one denied entry.
The woman with skin as hard as the inside of a peach looked at the monitor for a long time, looking at my two-year-old ID photo attached to my passport, then looking at me again, then looking at the photo, then looking at me again.
Even though half of my face was covered with a mask, I swallowed several times because of the woman's cynical expression.
Then suddenly a tall man appeared and took me away.
I've always wanted a prince charming, but not now.
Let's interpret his words as he stuttered through English words: "It's okay.
“Let me take a picture,” he said. It seemed like he was trying to calm me down, seeing my eyes trembling with fear through my KF94 mask.
I really want to.
I'm not the kind of guy who can fool you into doing something in Russia.
Being fat isn't a sin!
“I took this photo two years ago.
I gained weight.
This is me.”
--- From "From a Coward to an Honest Fool"

So, to live a short life, I drag my carrier and keep stepping into new environments.
There is no need to take a brave step.
I still find myself exhaling “I’m scared” and still need to take several steps to take a single step.
In fact, while traveling as a YouTuber, there were many cases where I was thrown away rather than taking the first step.
Then I had no choice but to get up and dust off my knees.
Even at that moment, I realize I'm more worried about the camera than my knees.
After a trip, whether short or long, my pockets are filled with new things I've picked up here and there.
There is a me who only discovers new things by walking through unfamiliar places, and there is a me who only accepts new things by tasting new flavors.
There is a me that can only be seen anew by standing under unfamiliar sunlight, and there is a me that can only be met by becoming a stranger.
So I'm off on another trip.
--- From "The Journey That Ends the Journey"

Publisher's Review
When the sunset looked pretty,
When the sunset looked like a sunset,
Only then did the journey become a journey.

"Isn't it all about spending a lot of money to take a few photos?" Park Seo-woo suggested a trip around Europe to the then 24-year-old author, who was skeptical about traveling abroad.
The author, who had never traveled abroad before, was hesitant, but this trip seemed like a great way to refresh his mind and build his resume, as he had been living without a clear goal after graduating from college.
With a clear goal of 'paying for a trip to Europe', his life became more vibrant.
I worked any job I could find, from serving at a kalguksu restaurant to working at a screen golf course counter and even working part-time at an izakaya, saving up for travel expenses for six months.
He says that although each day was difficult, the hardships were like youth and made him happy.

The goal of 'European travel expenses' created a more passionate routine than usual.
On weekdays, I would serve kalguksu to the office workers who would stream in from my mom's shop at 11:50 AM, then run out of breath to get six cards from six people and spend my lunch hour swiping the cards like a robot.
(…) When payday approached, I wrote down how much money I had earned that month and how much I could save.
On weekends, I ordered assorted sashimi from a local izakaya.

“This is flounder, this is red sea bream, this is salmon. Start with the white fish and dip it in soy sauce according to the type of fish listed.”

After finishing his kind but soulless comment, he returned to the liquor fridge and leaned his butt against the glass.
Focusing on the guests' heads, I drew a picture of a European trip a few months later.
I was happy that I would never have such passionate and youthful days in my life again.

His first five-week trip to Europe, with the money he had saved, was awkward and clumsy, but moments like the unfamiliar airport scenery in London, skydiving over Prague, and watching the sunset while sitting on the steps of Venice, deeply moved his heart.
As in his confession, “When the sunset looked beautiful, when the sunset looked like a sunset, only then did the trip become a trip,” the trip was not just a simple event for him, but a turning point where he discovered a new world and a new self.

There is a part of me that only discovers new things when I walk through unfamiliar places.
So, with fear and excitement, I set out again.
It's scary, but it's also definitely going to be fun!

The book is filled with unpredictable and fun travel episodes.
In the trip the three of them take, even the slightest difference in taste makes them feel like they are competing against each other in a two-on-one match, and the tension runs high. Unlike the romance they had imagined, they climbed the Gobi (Говь) in Mongolia after overcoming dozens of hardships while only looking at Park Seo-woo's butt, and the family trip where they faced several precarious moments while holding on to their collapsing mentality. The real scenes of a trip that does not go as planned are unfolded with humor and sincerity.

There are things that those who have not climbed will never see.
There are things that only those who have breathed out hot breaths, sweated with sand dust, and soothed their sagging muscles to plant their feet on the top can see.
There is an oasis of futility above it, where only those who have achieved it can drink and laugh.

_From the text

The sentences in this brisk and honest travelogue tell us that travel doesn't have to be perfect, and that there's plenty of meaning and fun to be found even in awkward and unexpected moments.

This book is not a glamorous or perfect travel story, but the voice of a real traveler.
Anyone who has ever experienced the complex mix of excitement and anxiety before embarking on a trip will deeply empathize with the author's honest account of an imperfect trip, a journey that doesn't go as planned.
