Book Introduction
The year was drawing to a close after a series of breathless days spent waiting for the civil war to be brought under control and a new government to be established.
I pay tribute to the efforts of the sovereign citizens who worked harder than anyone else to create a country worthy of its name.
As we face mounting challenges both at home and abroad, we must "further refine our thinking, cultivate greater wisdom, and prepare a vision for the world we must reunite with." (From the Preface) This magazine, too, is preparing for a new leap forward alongside its readers as it approaches its 60th anniversary next year.
The winter 2025 issue of 『Creation and Criticism』 was also planned based on this awareness of the problem.
The word "K" carries not only the pride of protecting democracy and leading culture, but also the responsibility to overcome the global crisis and create a new world-historical perspective.
This issue confirms the efforts of our poetry to create a new world through its achievements, and conveys the vivid power and depth of literature through unique creative writing and critique sections, author spotlights, and more.
The planned series 'Exploring K-Discourse' vividly shows the practices and thoughts of the late Cho Young-rae, author of 'A Biography of Jeon Tae-il' and leader of a major lawsuit against state violence, and the conversations and scenes dealing with the far-right phenomenon are interesting in that they correspond with each other.
The short reviews of actor Park Jung-min's prose, as well as a variety of noteworthy new books ranging from discourses to world literature, are also unique.
