Into the book
The more time I spent in Australia, the more I felt free from the constant pressure to fill a year with something.
And I found that there was absolutely nothing wrong with spending a year just enjoying life.
Experience is something that doesn't have to be pursued obsessively.
It just happened naturally while I was enjoying life.
--- p.7
Even in unfamiliar places, familiar places are bound to appear, and even travelers who come and go for a short time need such spaces.
Whenever I needed to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and catch my breath, I would always go to Hyde Park, and Hyde Park always gave me a corner of its own.
When it's no longer special, yet you keep coming back to it.
Only then will I be able to say that I love this park.
--- p.24
No matter what form the ocean takes, we can see the providence of nature and look into our own lives.
Gazing at the dazzling Sydney ocean gives me the courage to venture out into the rough seas of life again.
Because even though there is cruelty hidden behind it, humans cannot help but love the sea.
--- p.39
Sydney will wholeheartedly support you if you want to just walk.
Because there are countless walking trails filled with amazing sights.
Just wear comfortable sneakers and a pair of sunglasses and you're ready to go.
While walking, your body and mind are filled with fresh air, and you experience a state of selflessness where you become one with nature.
As you walk and walk like that, the moment you reach your destination, you meet a new 'me'.
--- p.55
In the past, the Manly area was inhabited by Aboriginal people who embraced the rough seas of Manly.
Although the land has now changed hands, Manly Beach remains a focal point for local residents.
They are as hot as the sun here, as energetic as the waves, and as leisurely as the clouds.
And I truly love their life in harmony with nature.
--- p.77
Now I know that happiness is very close, and it is in my heart.
All meaning, joy and love are in my heart.
No longer will we make the mistake of neglecting and sacrificing the present for something brighter in the future.
Instead, plant seeds in the little forest of your heart every day, water them, and harvest the fruits.
And invite people to share the fruit and see happiness in their laughter-filled days.
--- p.124
The vast expanse of the Blue Mountains is home to a wealth of beautiful natural wonders, making it a perfect destination for those with a sense of adventure.
When you enter the mountains, resonate with nature, and connect with all the living things that make up the forest, your body and mind will be filled with healthy energy.
Your life-changing adventure begins right here in the Blue Mountains.
--- p.127
Darkness makes people honest.
And then he carefully takes out what he's hiding.
Since it's not visible, it's less embarrassing to show your honest feelings.
Friends who had only laughed at each other during the day began to open up one by one about their inner thoughts.
The deepening night kept our story a secret, and the long pier stretching toward the sunset gave us a place to stay forever.
--- p.159
Even for me, who loves solitude, the fulfillment that comes from a deep connection with others is difficult to replace with anything.
So, the ordinary days of laughing and chatting with friends who stopped and opened their hearts to relationships that could have passed by in the blink of an eye are the ones that particularly shine among the countless days I spent in Australia.
We will remember each other's history, written in a foreign land, more meaningfully than anyone else.
--- p.167
For a year, my heart was filled with the beautiful scenery and smiles of Australia's people, but what filled it even more was a love that had become even more intense.
And I found that there was absolutely nothing wrong with spending a year just enjoying life.

Publisher's Review
[Author's Note]
Until I left for Australia, I never imagined that this book would ever be published.
But by the time I left Australia, my notebook was filled with notes I had been writing in my spare time, and my camera was filled with tens of thousands of photos.
That's when I decided, 'I have to compile this experience into a book.'
I began writing this book to capture the emotions I felt while traveling through the beautiful city of Sydney and the many wonderful places in Australia, and I am so happy that it has now gone beyond my personal records and reached out to you, my readers.
Although I have been working as a writer, this is the first time I have met readers under my own name.
I believe that encounters through books are also a form of fate, and I hope that this book will bring warmth to people.
For the challenging youth
Working Holiday
‘Working holiday’ is an eternal topic of conversation among young people.
Some people see a working holiday as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, while others see it as an opportunity for adventure and self-exploration.
Whatever the reason for leaving, going on a working holiday can give you the experience of struggling and living alone in an unfamiliar country.
There is a saying that 'hardship is suffering', but hardship often helps people grow by leaps and bounds, so it is worth trying.
The author gives courage to troubled youth.
'It's a lot better than you think,' he said.
An unfamiliar city where travelers live,
The ordinary life found within it
It shows the natural process of how life in Australia has become a daily routine, starting from the excitement of a working holiday.
And we get to take a deep look into life in the beautiful everyday life of Sydney.
This is something that everyone can relate to, whether they have been to Sydney, are planning to go, or haven't been.
The inspiration from beautiful cities and vast nature reaches you across distant seas.
A place that is not obvious
Hidden Spots for Locals
The author spent a year exploring various places in Sydney every weekend, gradually building up his records.
The expedition made possible unexpected discoveries.
Everyone knows about the 'Opera House', but no one knows about the 'Magic Point'.
But Magic Point, as its name suggests, is a hidden gem with magical beauty.
This book is full of famous tourist attractions as well as amazing places that only locals know about.
To those who venture out, Sydney boldly reveals a new form of beauty that had been hidden.
This is your chance to experience Sydney 'properly'.
Life-affirming
A deep journey
This book is a dense journey of one person set in Sydney, and a record of the thoughts and emotions that blossomed within it.
The sentences in the book are not flashy experiences or light consolation, but rather sincere experiences and honest impressions, so they reach the reader with a sense of weight.
After you close the book, you will feel more like, "I need to live more deeply here and now," rather than thinking, "I need to go somewhere right now."
