Synonyms are words that have similar meaning and usage.
These words are literally similar, but there are subtle differences that are difficult to explain in some areas.
Therefore, it is important for learners to clearly understand the differences in meaning and usage between synonyms in order to acquire vocabulary accurately and use it appropriately in different situations.
Therefore, it can be said that materials that describe and differentiate the differences between synonyms are essential for learners learning vocabulary and teachers teaching vocabulary.

The meaning of a word is revealed in its relationship to other words used with it.
In this dictionary, in addition to providing definitions, we aim to show the usage of each word through examples, thereby showing learners how to use synonyms appropriately for the situation.
The example sentences used in this dictionary are extracted from the Yonsei Corpus constructed by the Yonsei University Language Information Research Institute.
Additionally, Internet resources were consulted to demonstrate recent usage.
Based on corpus examples, we have tried to show the meaning of synonyms as easily and in detail as possible, and have included abundant examples to help learners understand.

Next, in explaining the meanings of complex and tricky synonyms, we avoided the conventional flat and listing interpretations, and presented the common and different meanings shared by synonyms separately, allowing learners to independently understand the relevance and differences between synonyms.

All of the authors who compiled this dictionary have been interested in and researched vocabulary, grammar, and Korean language education.
I also participated in the compilation of dictionaries such as the Yonsei Korean Dictionary, Yonsei Elementary Korean Dictionary, Yonsei Modern Korean Dictionary, and Korean-English Dictionary, and I tried to incorporate these experiences as much as possible into the compilation of this thesaurus.
